MOUNTAIN CALLING: THE AMERICAN TOUGE - The @driftappalachia Documentary | 250D, 500T 16mm

There is nothing more raw and visceral in drifting than touge. At the early stages of conceptualizing this project, we knew that film would be the perfect medium to convey those feelings on screen. We drew visual inspiration from Japanese touge films, and early rally footage, a few of which were also shot on film. The blend of artistry and technicality of working with film is akin to the mentality needed when drifting in the mountain passes and we hope that this film can invoke those same emotions we experienced at Drift Appalachia.

TUNA ON RYE (2026)

back in october, i was feeling frustrated and discouraged by the slow pace the film industry was moving at. casting on my feature had slowed and i was unsure if i would be able to raise enough money to get @thetalkingcatmovie off the ground. so i decided to just go for it and make something much more intimate on a near-$0 budget.

in just 2 months, i assembled an incredible cast and crew to create something special.

we just finished post-production on TUNA ON RYE and I couldn’t be prouder. there’s exciting news to come soon, but first I want to thank the people who poured their talent, time, and energy into this passion project.

@njkling for sharing this beautiful script with me 10 years ago. one of the most breathtaking pieces of writing I’ve ever read, all in just 5 pages.

@jemberjembs for being my day 1—as a classmate, friend, and colleague—and for introducing me to the incredibly talented @officialnancylinari & @damienleake. working with them on this challenging material was a privilege.

@rhi.mt for producing this project remotely and keeping everything moving forward, and @davidarnold_film for handling the countless fires that come with production in LA.

@paddymoynahan for being an amazing collaborator and bringing on @drk.hso and @shotbymatthew, whose expertise elevated every frame.

@anusha.halwai, a phenomenal 1st AD and the start of what i know will be a lasting friendship.

🎂BIRTHDAY POST🎂 - Hard times for the arts - but this drive to create doesn’t care. If you’re able to pitch in a few bucks (tax deductible link in bio), I would be forever grateful. This is a feature film I had the honor to co-direct with my filmmaking partner @benjaminfont . And make with so many level 99 wizards of YEAH!! I’m still pinching myself by how many people turned up from different walks/careers/mental states/etc (you know, LIFE) and just brought excellent love. I am in awe of you all and honored to create with you! This is truly just the beginning.
-
This film is an atmospheric existential comedy and a deeply personal story about what it all means to be a human on this planet. No studio would ever make this movie, but somehow…we did! And as we approach the finish line in the edit, every little bit helps more than you could possibly know.

Thank you. I love you. Yes, YOU. And I can’t wait to see you at the movies! ✨🍿🏴‍☠️🫶⚔️
