💪🏾As Black History Month comes to a close, we aren’t just turning a calendar page. We are carrying forward the energy of celebrating 100 years of Black history. It is a vital reminder that Black History is American History. They are not separate threads; they are woven together in the same fabric. My people have contributed to the building of this nation, both as willing participants and as unwilling laborers. You cannot tell the story of America without us. In our current climate, we must be vigilant. We need to remind each other that silencing voices and removing history from our books is not the path forward. True progress requires us to face our full story, not just the comfortable parts. Today, I honor my ancestors. I pay tribute to their bloodshed and their bravery. They endured so that I could stand here today. I have a voice because they fought for it. Let’s make sure that voice—and our history—continues to be heard loud and clear, 365 days a year. How will you continue to honor this history in the months ahead? #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackHistoryIsAmericanHistory #Ancestors #RepresentationMatters #100YearsOfBlackHistory

🫣Me looking back and thinking what the Helly? Let’s talk about something I see all the time in my practice. Did you know that about 45% of young adults (18-34) trust social media for health advice? It’s true. Many are even swapping professional medical opinions for tips from their favorite influencers. As an optometrist with 20 years of experience, it’s concerning to see vetted, peer-reviewed advice get pushed aside for a trending video. Your health, including your eye health, is too important to trust to anyone but a qualified professional. What are your thoughts on this? Let’s talk about it in the comments. #HealthAdvice #DigitalWellness #ExpertOpinion #Optometry

✨If you want to feel different, you have to do something different. Three months ago, I made a decision that terrified me but was absolutely necessary. After 20 years of hands-on patient care, I realized the spark I had in 2006 was flickering out. The reality no one talks about? Providers give 100% of themselves every single year, often without expecting anything in return. But over time, that drains your cup. I was tired of the day-to-day grind and desperate to step out of the dark exam room. So, I went cold turkey. I cut my exam schedule down to three days a week to reclaim my life. Do I regret it? Not for a second. I have an amazing young associate ensuring my patients get incredible care, which has freed me up to pursue new passions. Now, you can find me focusing on specialized dry eye services or delivering lectures at national conferences. I’m finally reclaiming my time. How do you make sure you refill your cup before it runs dry? Let me know in the comments below. 👇 #providerburnout #worklifebalance #optometrylife #healthcareprovider #selfcarematters
