What happens when your dermatologist calls with biopsy results?

In this case, it’s basal cell carcinoma. While hearing the words “skin cancer” can be scary, the good news is that basal cell carcinoma is highly treatable.

When was the last time you had a full-body skin exam?

She leads. She lifts. She changes medicine. 💗

In honor of National Women in Medicine Day, we asked the women who lead the Women’s Dermatologic Society to share a few of the words that inspire them—the mottos, reminders, and wisdom they carry with them through medicine, leadership, and life.

Their answers are as individual as the women themselves. But together, they reflect something we see every day across WDS: women caring for patients, advancing science, teaching the next generation, leading organizations, mentoring one another, opening doors, and making room for the women coming behind them.

Today, we celebrate our WDS leaders—and every woman in medicine whose courage, compassion, expertise, voice, and leadership are shaping the future of our profession.

Keep leading.
Keep lifting.
Keep opening doors.
And keep bringing others with you.

Happy National Women in Medicine Day from the Women’s Dermatologic Society.

Success for every woman in dermatology. 🌹

✨ What an extraordinary evening.

Last week, we had the privilege of attending and being part of the committee for The Skin Cancer Foundation’s Champions for Change Gala, and we’re still feeling the energy from the room.

Together, we sold out and beat our goal to fund lifesaving educational campaigns, community programs, and research initiatives. That number represents real people, real lives, and real impact. 💛

It was such an honor to witness the recognition of Adam Schweitzer with the Champions for Change Award, and Michelle Monaghan with the Impact Award for her skin cancer awareness advocacy. Both so well deserved.

A night like this doesn’t happen without an exceptional committee. We are proud to have served alongside some of the most dedicated dermatologists, advocates, and leaders in dermatology. Thanks to every single committee member who showed up for this mission:

Deborah S. Sarnoff MD, Steve Alperine, Marcia Robbins-Wilf EdD, Stephanie Schweitzer, Kimberly Campbell, April Franzino, Jesse M. Lewin MD, Julie K. Karen MD, Elizabeth K. Hale MD, Jeremy Brauer MD, Ian Michael Crumm, Heather Fisher Gotlib,Michelle F. Henry MD, Susan Manber, Blair Murphy-Rose MD, Kathy Sabine, Ariel Ostad MD, Kim Nicholas MD, Maral K. Skelsey MD, Susan Small, Tyler Steele, Mary L. Stevenson MD, and Jane Y. Yoo MD — you are an inspiration to us all. 🙌

A special thank you to Sarah Eggenberger and to Hank Azaria & The EZ Street Band for getting everyone on the dance floor! 🎶

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the U.S. and one of the most preventable. This work matters to the entire dermatology community.

There’s still time to donate or volunteer. Link in bio. 🔗

The @womensdermsociety WDS Forum is more than a meeting, it’s an experience.

From powerful panels and mentorship moments to morning wellness sessions, meaningful conversations, and unforgettable shared experiences… this is where connection meets growth.

We learned together.
We shared openly.
We grew, professionally and personally.
We recharged!

And in celebrating 35 years of mentorship with Keynote Speaker Libby Edwards, we were reminded that the true strength of WDS is our people.

Save the date for next year April 9-11, 2027 in Clearwater Beach, FL 🏖️
