POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
We have an update to share on Australia’s brumbies.

As many of you know, the WBF team traveled to Australia this summer, spending weeks on the ground documenting the aerial culling of the wild horses in the Kosciuszko National Park.

What we saw was unspeakable.

How a government could condone shooting wild horses and their families - pregnant mares, newborn foals - from helicopters seemed impossible. Yet, it wasn’t. They continue to call it “humane.”

There is positive news, however - that has finally occurred after outrage was voiced around the world for these horses.

Our allies in Parliament have confirmed that the aerial cull of the iconic brumbies, which was scheduled to begin in early November, is being postponed until early 2027. There are a great many questions as to why, which WBF is continuing to investigate.

While this delay offers some breathing room, let us be clear: the postponement of aerial shooting does not mean these horses are safe.

We are continuing to work to uncover the truth, and shine a light on what is happening to the brumbies. Our goal reaches beyond a postponement - we must work to ensure that this violence never happens again.

Please continue to watch for updates about how you can help.

But in this moment, let us also remember how important it is to keep raising our voices. Every story in the media, every legal action, every shred of documentation to illuminate these injustices against wildlife is crucial.

If you have information related to the brumby cull that has not yet been made public, or are a whistleblower, please reach out to contact@wildbeautyfoundation.org

Compassion knows no borders. Thank you for being #brumbystrong.

Thank you to @drnancyoreilly and the Women Connect4Good foundation for supporting and amplifying my work with @greentiderising @atinyrevolutionfilm and beyond.
I believe storytelling on screen and in media has immense power to shape the way we see ourselves and the world. WHO gets to tell those stories matters a great deal. I hope my projects can always inspire or empower someone to know the value of their voice and that they are worthy.

232 cosponsors for the SAFE Act.

Momentum is building across the country, and across the globe, to protect America’s wild and domestic horses. Through The Lost Horses campaign, we are proud to advance this work and help create lasting change.

Representative Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-CA) has now cosponsored the legislation, bringing the total to 232. She joins original sponsor and tireless equine champion Congressman Vern Buchanan (R-FL).

The next few weeks are crucial. The House returned August 31, and the Senate returns September 14. Transportation authorization expires September 30, with an extension through December 11 proposed.

WBF and our coalition partners led the effort to move core SAFE Act language out of committee in the bipartisan transportation bill. Now we need continued support as it awaits consideration by the full House.

What can you do, right now?

1. Send a message to Congress in two minutes at www.losthorses.org.

2. Call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask for your Representative and both Senators.

“Hi, I’m _____, a constituent from _____.”
“Please cosponsor, if needed, and support the SAFE Act, H.R. 1661 in the House and S. 775 in the Senate. Please help end horse slaughter and the export pipeline. Thank you.”

1. Are you part of AHA, AQHA, APHA, ApHC, or another breed association? Ask its position on the SAFE Act, and why. Tell them the slaughter pipeline must close.

2. Kids and teens, handwrite a letter to Congress. Your voices cut through in a remarkable way!

3. Add your name to the Open Letter: www.losthorses.org/signon

4. Share The Lost Horses PSAs. This is not simply about tens of thousands of horses. It’s about every single life mattering.

5. If you can, please donate so we can keep going: www.losthorses.org/support

Thank you for being part of this journey, and for standing with The Lost Horses.
