He had already lost a toe. His surgeon wanted to prevent him from losing more. A recurring diabetic foot ulcer. Limited progress with conservative treatment. And a healthcare system where even relatively straightforward procedures can require weeks of authorizations and coordination. Dr. Tea Nguyen, a podiatric surgeon and private practice owner, decided to build a different model. Through direct care, she created a way to provide ongoing preventive foot care, communicate directly with patients, and perform appropriate minimally invasive procedures in her office. For this particular patient, an office-based procedure helped his wound make faster progress within two weeks. Her experience raises a larger question: How much of what delays treatment is medically necessary, and how much comes from the way we’ve organized healthcare? We’re especially excited to share Dr. Nguyen’s perspective because she’s also delivering not one, but TWO lectures in our upcoming 4th Annual SoMeDocs Private Practice Online Course! Clearly, she has plenty to say about building a practice that works for physicians and their patients. And we’re here for it. Read her latest article in SoMeDocs Magazine, and stay tuned for more from Dr. Nguyen. #SoMeDocs #PrivatePractice #DirectCare

For the last 4 years I am traveling a few times a year to promote the DSC alliance mission. It is close to my heart and it lifts my sold when physicians that I never met come to me and say “thank you for doing this! Thanks you for opening my eyes! I started my #directspecialtycare clinic last month’! It starts with US! Next meeting in Hoston!

Things doctors say at work that would be deeply concerning anywhere else. 😂 We asked physicians to give us a line they routinely say in the course of doing their jobs… and then removed the one thing keeping those sentences respectable: the context. Welcome to #OutOfContext, a SoMeDocs physician collaboration. And yes, these are all perfectly reasonable things to say at work. We promise. Physicians: what’s something YOU say all the time that sounds completely unhinged out of context? Drop it below. 👇 And if you make your own, use #OutOfContext and tag @SoMeDocs so we can see it. 🎬 Dana Corriel, MD - @drcorriel Want in on future SoMeDocs collaborations? Join our community. We have more coming.

Want to feel more supported at work? Dr. Tea shares her favorite shoe... The Victoria Loafer 👣 Meet @drteapodiatry, a board-certified podiatrist who discovered Stegmann as a customer first while searching for supportive shoes for herself. The Victoria Loafer quickly stood out thanks to its roomy toe box, arch support, removable footbed and durable rubber outsole. Dr. Tea also loves that the EVA insert can be removed to accommodate custom orthotics when needed. Supportive, thoughtfully designed and polished enough for every day. 🤎 Head to our website to meet Dr. Tea and explore more of her favorite Stegmann shoes —> @stegmannclogs

THE ANKLE IS HEALED. NOW WE HAVE TO MAKE IT BASKETBALL-READY. 🏀⚡️ Late-stage rehab after an ankle inversion sprain isn’t about simply checking the “pain-free” box. It’s about rebuilding the athlete’s ability to react, absorb force, produce force, control motion, and do it all at game speed. For this college basketball player, we’re progressing into: 🏀 Reactive deceleration ⚡️ Reactive balance & stabilization 🦶 Elasticity + energy absorption 💥 Force production & force control ↔️ Controlling inversion forces 🔄 Multidirectional movement 🏀 Basketball-specific change of direction & movement The goal? Not just a strong ankle. A responsive, adaptable ankle that can handle the unpredictable demands of basketball. Because the final stage of rehab should look less and less like “therapy”… …and more and more like the sport they’re returning to. 👉 Swipe through the carousel to see how we’re building the ankle back to basketball. #AnkleRehab #AnkleSprain #InversionSprain #SportsRehab #BasketballRehab
