We at Mike Check Yur Colon are singularly focused on preventing Early Onset Colorectal Cancer (EOCRC). We raise money to provide free screening colonoscopies for individuals under the age of 45. Colorectal Cancer is the number one cause of cancer related deaths for individuals under the age of 50. There are approximately 134,000,000 people in the United States between the ages of 18-45. They are the most important people in our society. They are the largest workforce, the largest consumer group, the largest investors in the stock market, 90% of our Military, 100% of the people who fight in our wars, and the only people having children. But, they don’t qualify to get a screening colonoscopy, which could prevent them from contracting a cancer that is 95% preventable(Colorectal Cancer). How is it possible that the most important people in our society, are not allowed to manage their healthcare. This is wrong!!! I challenge each of the nonprofits that are in the Colorectal Cancer space to follow our lead. Use some of the money you raise to get people under the age of 45 screened via a colonoscopy. This is the right thing to do, and it would send a strong message to the corporations who employ them as well as the insurance companies who take their money. We at Mike Check Yur Colon are singularly focused on making it possible for people under the age of 45 to get a screening colonoscopy. Colorectal Cancer is the number one cause of cancer related deaths for individuals under the age of 50. A colonoscopy can prevent Colorectal Cancer by detecting and removing polyps before they become cancerous. If facts mean anything in our society, we should follow the facts. In 2016, approximately 3% of the 150,000 people who were diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer were under the age of 50. It is now close to 30%. That alone should create concern. I believe any nonprofit in the Colorectal Cancer space should use a portion of what they raise to provide free screening colonoscopies for the under 45 population. If we all work at getting young people screened, we could slow down the rise of Early Onset Colorectal Cancer, which would save a lot of lives. We would also be protecting the most important people in our society 18-45 year old population; by allowing them to be able to manage their healthcare. This would set the stage for potentially eradicating Colorectal Cancer in 10-15 years. There are 134 million people in the United States between the ages of 18-45. They are the largest workforce, largest consumer group, largest investors in the stock market, 90% of our military, 100% of the people who fight our wars, the only group having children. But they cannot manage their healthcare. This is fundamentally wrong!!

One of those pictures is Michael a week before he passed. Only a few people saw him during these moments. How could such a handsome man go from 170 lbs to 70 lbs in 5 months. This is what the Colorectal Cancer battle looks like. Once you see it, it’s hard to unsee. The physical hardship is bad, the emotional hardship is worse. Not being able to orally consume food or water, not being able to go to the restroom like a normal person. Having tubes taking care of all your consumption needs as well your waste requirements is demoralizing. Along with all of these inconveniences, the cost of staying alive adds an additional burden. This makes a screening colonoscopy seem like a better option. There are 134,000,000 in the United States between the ages of 18-45, you are the most important people in our society. Largest workforce, largest consumer group, largest investors in the stock market, 90% of our military 100% of the people who fight our wars, the only people having babies. You should be able to manage your healthcare. You should be able to choose to have a screening colonoscopy which could prevent you from contracting Colorectal Cancer. Thanks for all who donated and participated in the inaugural Hike 4 Mike 5K. We had a great turnout out and a lot of fun. Michael was looking down and smiling. The goal of Mike Check Yur Colon is to raise money to provide free screening colonoscopies for individuals under the age of 45. There are 134,000,000 people between the ages of 18-45. They are the most important people in our society. And they do not qualify for a screening colonoscopy, that could prevent them from contracting Colorectal Cancer, this is illogical. Colorectal Cancer is the number one cause of cancer related deaths for people under the age of 45.
