The conductor, the myth, the legend — 🌟 VEE 🌟

Our 1st trading card star.

Washing machine is not the only weird item she’s seen on the subway. 🎹 🏍️ 🛏️

This video was made by our Trading Card Star Vee’s daughter Kyra (@kyraaluz on TikTok). Undoubtedly the most special moment of the opening.

Give it up for Vee, everyone! 🚇 🌟

Hi! If it’s okay with you, we are taking over a newsstand at W4 Station on the downtown BDFM platform.

Opening day is August 1st where we will be giving out lots of stuff and hanging in the best place on earth: the NYC subway.

After that there will be open hours and one-off events, and recurring series. It will be madness just how the train can be madness.

My creation from @dullhouze workshop at @itpcamp “Objects Against Screentime”

I made a phone hat that blocks notifications from making my screen light up. A physical do not disturb!

Next stop: the New York Transit Museum! 🚆

Last month, ITP community members shared subway-related interactive work at @nytransitmuseum as part of The Transit Operas, a collaborative program between NYU departments of Graduate Musical Theatre Writing, Design for Stage and Film, and ITP!

Attendees were invited to play, touch, and explore a variety of work about NYC’s beloved subway system in vintage train cars.

ITP in Philly! 🦅

Students, faculty, and alumni went to Philadelphia last month for the Electronics Faire at Temple University where they presented work, hosted workshops, and performed new instruments!

Sam Heckle (ITP ‘22) hosted a workshop called Soft(ware) Custodians – Jailbreaking Old Apple Devices, where attendees learned how to modify old iPhones and iPods to repurpose them.

Lily Crandall (ITP ‘24) invited attendees to contribute to a collaborative quilt by making squares out of a variety of materials.

Works by Yafira Martinez (ITP ‘26) and Emilia Ezeta (ITP ‘27) were featured in the accompanying exhibition at Ulises Bookstore.

Josh Zhong (ITP ‘24) and Tres Pimentel (ITP ‘24), co-founders of @glubglublabs , shared some recent projects at the Sit and Tinker Faire.

Pedro de Oliveira (faculty) presented a talk with the theme of Repair Practices in the Institution, the Gallery, the Archive, the Streets, and Beyond.

Meghna Mahadevan (ITP ‘26) performed as part of the Low-db Performers series.

This free, two-day event was organized by Hannah Tardie (ITP ‘20):

“I proposed the event upon realizing that there’s very limited curriculum at Temple (and most higher education institutions in the greater Philadelphia region) for interdisciplinary work with electronics–whether that be in the arts or humanities– and there is generally a lack of awareness about the myriad communities who are doing radical work with electronics within and beyond Philadelphia. The heart of the faire is about creating community between the people doing this work, and making this type of work more accessible to those interested in joining.” — Hannah Tardie

finally catching my breath from the last few weeks and reflecting on this year’s repair electronics faire. this year felt chill and relaxed enough that i actually got to be a fair attendee for a bit and wwwoooowwww was it incredible :’)

these images are a very small glimpse into the community that came together for the two day faire. thank you so much to everyone who came and shared their work, taught workshops, gave talks, presented art, and played music. and thank you to everyone who took a chance and attended this wacky event. it was so deeply affirming to be around people thinking and working through topics i often explore in solitude. i felt incredibly held and supported by the expertise and generosity of all who participated this year.

may we all continue to feed our reparative impulses to assemble and confer plenitude. <3
