Gracias a quienes nos acompañaron hace unos días al lanzamiento del libro Mesoamérica Moderna: Ideas Antiguas en Casas Mexicanas Contemporáneas, por @imrevolting y @phaidonpress fotografiado por mí. El lanzamiento acompañado de la expo Me Petateé, comisionada por @new_vernacular en @masagaleria

Tres años de trabajo condensados en estas páginas, 16 casas espectaculares alrededor de México y una investigación brutal por parte de Su Wu. Gracias, @imrevolting por hacerme parte de este proyecto. Fue todo un sueño.

Gracias a @durbecq por estar presente en cada toma y hacer que en cada foto todo estuviera preciso y perfecto. No pudiéramos haberlo hecho sin tí.

Y gracias a @josephowen por el impecable trabajo de edición, pusiste el corazón en este libro, transformaste las ideas en algo hermoso y estamos todos muy orgullosos.

Construida entre 1940 y 1942, Casa Ortega fue una de las primeras obras en las que Luis Barragán comenzó a definir el lenguaje que marcaría su arquitectura: luz, color, silencio, vegetación y espacio.

Concebida originalmente como su propia casa, más de ocho décadas después sigue siendo un referente de una manera de habitar pausada y profundamente conectada con su entorno.

Hoy, Casa Ortega se convierte en el lienzo de nuestra colección Otoño 2026: un encuentro entre arquitectura, mobiliario y objetos que comparten una misma idea de permanencia.

MVNDO VARON in Roma Norte is finally open.

A big thank you to everyone who helped bring this space to life. Specially to the families who trusted us and exchanged their old fiberglass roofing sheets for new ones, donating us their old sheets to incorporate into our store to get the look of ocre/amber that just being exposed to the sunlight gives to the fiberglass. MVNDO now carries a piece of their homes history.

Our thanks as well to @millioud architects for bringing my design to life, to @rafaeldepalma for making this project possible, and to @panamastudio for shaping the space identity.

To all the creators, designers & artist who keep trusting in our project 💟

And to the VARON team this wouldn’t exist without you hotties.

Some of the best things we ate during the making of MESOAMERICAN MODERN / ancient ideas in contemporary Mexican homes / architecture of the Americas! / anyway, some meals we remembered to photograph before we ate them / in no particular order except for these:

1. This sope with cempasúchil
2. The rellenos made by Geraz’s wife
3. Leaf soup served for lunch at another home in the book / I almost cried / my tears would have tasted like this soup
4. Deceptively the spiciest salsa I have had in Mexico / doesn’t look it, right?
5. Not pictured: driving in reverse on a freeway for 5km and then accidentally transferring money to the wrong guy but then he gave us the best mezcal / instead this is bougainvillea water

Going to miss these adventures for as long as I live / thank you for feeding our minds and stomachs / MESOAMERICAN MODERN coming FALL 2026 from @phaidonpress ❤️
