My magnum opus. 17 hours later, I have finished the 11 character piece for @kokandyprods Jekyll and Hyde. Every cast member, with the exception of Ava Lane Stovall as Lucy (I am working on something for her!) is included. I know I am just an audience member but this show has meant so much to me, and honestly has kept me sane through a very uncertain period of my life. Thank you for letting me see it 15+ times. . Ok, now for the silly caption. I YOINKED EVERYBODY'S LEGS MWAHAHAHAH. I was not about to draw 11 lower bodies, sorry not sorry. While it may seem that David Moreland is the main character of this piece (he retains his legs), it is actually the lighting design. @ivmaxin created such a magical experience with the lighting design. I hope you know how hard it was to draw, though. Tag yourself in the 3rd slide with my rough sketch lol. . #kokandyproductions #theatreinchicago #fanart #jekyllandhydemusical

Just listened to the Broadway cast album of Jekyll and Hyde and I am saying this production from @kokandyprods and @broadwayinchicago is truly one of my top 5 shows EVER - yes, it is that good! And it tops that Broadway music too! The two ladies voices sparkle and soar and are filled with emotion, @avalanestovall and @emilygmccormick —- and wow, the dude, @david.t.moreland playing both Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is just super human (I suppose that makes sense). What’s more, performed in the intimate setting of the Broadway Playhouse of Water Tower. Hear my conversation with Moreland and director @dvbarham on the @petterinos_ Booth 46 Podcast you can find anywhere there are podcasts or at wgnradio.com. #jekyllandhyde #davidmoreland #booth46 #stevedale

I mean….THIS SHOW! THIS CAST! @kokandyprods’ Jekyll & Hyde continues to WOW audiences! Insane talent on stage and behind stage! I’d like to see this company tour or go off-broadway….more than Chicago needs to see them! I didn’t even pick a song with actual singing because it would not be this actual company singing…cause I don’t have access to that! Bottom line….go see these stars at the #broadwayinchicago playhouse now through 11/8!

Inspired by the painting, “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte” by Georges Seurat, Sunday in the Park with George, Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s stunning masterpiece, merges past and present into beautiful, poignant truths about life, love and the creation of art. One of the most acclaimed musicals of our time, this moving study of the enigmatic painter, Georges Seurat, won a Pulitzer Prize and was nominated for an astounding ten Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Kokandy’s superb production of SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE is not to be missed. The work of this gifted ensemble is excellent, as always, but seeing this musical in the intimate setting of the Chopin Theatre is a revelation. Kevin Webb and Missy Wise Vanderzee offer a George and Dot with shadings I have never seen, individually in each well-drawn character and in the chemistry between them. Director Derek Van Barham is in absolute control of this palette, the quirky space at the Chopin, the fine actor/singers, the elegance and the surprise of the design. Nick Sula’s musical direction is stunning, and Evelyn Ryan at the keyboard and conducting the chamber ensemble is a skilled interpreter of the lush score. With the excellent sound design of Matt Reich, realized by sound engineer Hannah Kwak, I did not miss a note or a lyric. Kokandy is calling this their season of color and light, and this production is bathed in both. It is now extended to November 29th and I may well go back for another visit. In a world where it can feel hard to be anywhere right now, to spend 2 and a half hours with these artists in the Chopin Theatre is a tonic for the soul.
