My most recent Substack Live was a little different.

Instead of interviewing online, I travelled to the garden of Wild Muse subscriber Clare Jackson (@dwellbeinglife) who is an artist and writer. My plan was for us to share nature stories together, but it turned out that when Clare first invited me, she thought I was simply coming to use the garden, not speak to her! Discovering she'd be part of the conversation "was a bit of a shock."

What followed was one of my favourite conversations of the series.

We spoke about the stories that stay with us, the rituals we create in nature, and the gifts that arrive when we slow down enough to notice them. Clare shared the beautiful story of walking an ancient salt path and unexpectedly discovering she'd been gifted something quite profound. I shared how a vision quest transformed the way I understood presence, judgement and listening to the natural world.

One of Clare's reflections has stayed with me ever since:

"We've all got amazing stories... there's always a learning in them."

Sea Wall is a painting , made from walking , in #seasalter . I’ve walked here often on my own and,when lucky, with fellow artists ( painters, poets and psychogeographers). We are all artists who work at looking closely and slowly and trying to surprise ourselves as we respond to a familiar and sometimes not so familiar place ! 🙏🏾

One more week of Spring Tide at @thehorsebridge Whitstable. Weeds in Kent are loving being part of this serenely curated show. The space feels beautifully refreshing and soothing, just like our spring tides. Catch it before closing on Monday the 20th April.

Next week, “Weeds in Kent Collective” are taking part in a group show alongside 6 other artists @thehorsebridge 8-20th April pv Thursday 9th 6-8pm.
The last minute cancellation offered the opportunity for our group to re show our hugely successful experimental pieces that were part of @estuaryfestival 2025. My new body of work which was very exciting to produce, is from an idea inspired by a visit to @house_of_dreams_museum so expect something a bit different from me, a blend of alchemy with objects, loosely connected to food. One reason visitors love to visit Whitstable, is a coastal foodie experience and I think my new work makes the connection from place to plate, so why not pop in for a view before heading off for the cuisine delights our little olde town offers.

This show celebrates the Spring Tide with a range of contemporary work, from some artists that are new to me, and some I havnt seen for a while, so I’ll be looking forward to meeting you at our pv. next week.
