✨#MeetHimMondys : “I Got a Ted Talk!”✨

I hadn’t posted yet; because, I wasn’t ready. I hadn’t processed…I am OFFICIALLY a TedTalk Speaker!

In November, thanks to ( @lisamacdowell_ii + @brandiefreely ), I applied for a TedTalk at my university. I was three days short of the window, & gave it all I had. Weeks later, I got the green light! I of course had to move in discretion until I was okayed.

Last Friday, I stepped foot back on to Prairie View A&M University; & after days & hours of practicing, I shared my TedTalk: “I Got Work to Do: Building a Career, Without Neglecting Your Mental Health!”

I Shared:
☝🏽:“Your Identity is Expensive”—You are NOT your title, you are MORE!
✌🏽: “Boundaries, Baby!”—set the tone for you & your job!
👌🏽: “Use Your Props!”—Therapy + Your Village, Your People!

The talk will drop sometime in May, but the impact is happening NOW! I am so honored to be in a TedTalk cohort with some of the brightest + most inspiring to come from “The Hill,” & I am STILL in awe that we made history as the 6th cohort! I’m also VERY grateful for my village (my “props”)!

I STILL can’t believe this happened to me!

It’s my (new)dream to do speaking professionally! I don’t know what else to say; so, I’ll just leave you with these swipes + a suggestion to book me…

Long post alert: Never was going to push football on him-EVER! However, he decides 8th grade year he wanted to play. I told his dad he had to train with @dynamic_pd in the spring to get him caught up physically and mentally. In May, he started and by August football camp he was blending in. Throughout the season, he had a few tackles, a lack of aggression, and a lot to continue to work on. On top of school practice, he trained with Coach Jerome twice a week and continued to work on getting better each week. If you’re not a coach, you don’t understand what it’s like to miss out on your kid’s games because you’re coaching other kids. I had to miss every single game this season. I have never missed anything of his and it has been so hard. Sacrifice is rarely understood or appreciated by those you are sacrificing for—-But I got to show up today on his last game and it was his best one! Not only did he make three great tackles, but he got a Pick 6 and sealed the Win! He is still on Cloud 9. He has worked so hard to bridge the gap. He rarely even watched football and had zero knowledge of the game. To watch him tonight was the highlight of my year! Big ups to Coach Jerome for being the GOAT in training and development! S/O to Ty dad for splitting the days and times to get him to training and for making every game I could not. It truly takes a village!
