The 9 types of portrait lighting every photographer needs to know — whether you shoot natural light, studio flash, or continuous light.

Lighting patterns aren’t complicated or “studio-only.” They’re simply about how shadows fall on the face, and once you understand them, you’ll make better lighting decisions anywhere: on location or in the studio.

In the full video, I break down:
Split, rim/backlight, butterfly, clamshell, loop, Rembrandt, short lighting, broad lighting, and cross lighting — with clear examples and practical tips you can apply immediately.

If you’ve ever struggled with where to place your light (or the sun), this is foundational knowledge that will change how you see portraits.

One very important caveat, which you’ll get from the full length video, is that lighting patterns describe how the face relates to the light not how the face relates to the camera.

You are art.
As photographers, when we blend intentional technique with emotional awareness, we don’t just create beautiful images — we create moments that resonate.

Where Red&Ruby Meet: here’s what it means to me♥️

1. Ruby my birthstone, is known to be the ‘king of gems!’

2. My red gemstone represents all things love and is believed to bring in wisdom and wealth.

3. The metaphysical properties of said Ruby’s is improved energy, concentration, creativity, loyalty, honor and compassion

4. Unfortunately Red is associated with war, lust, danger, rage and failure, but it actually holds an immense power amongst a beautifully balanced spirit

5. Although I’m a fire sign, I hardly wear large coverages of red. I actually feel more connected to the color in small doses but on rare occasions; I reign fire.

6. If nothing else about this post resonates with you, this should; When in doubt Red it Out 😘

A Year Makes All The Difference!
On this day in 2022, we dropped my first big gig as the Creative Director for @official__tink “Goofy” music video.

Little did I know, I’d be blessed with FOUR opportunities with Tink back-to-back that year going into 2023.

As we enter Day 1 of Leo season, I’m filled with gratitude for these moments that have allowed my talents to shine with an incredible support system.

Big thank you to the teams I’ve worked with and the mentors who’ve shaped me to be better!

Genuine support has always fueled my fire. Now let’s celebrate, because it’s Leo SZN baby! Why be a “goofy” when you could be living in your purpose.

The best is yet to come! 🦁

Don’t forget to Wish me a Happy Solar Return on July 31st family 🎂🤩♌️
