Sometimes, Broadway doesn’t care if you have chops…

Whether you’re in the pit, on stage, backstage, or in the booth, every department is working together to tell one story. Our first masterclass was hosted by @e.j.huffman the current Music Director for the Book Of Mormon National Tour.

We spoke about how context matters and what role your instrument plays in each piece always changes. Sometimes ripping the coolest fill you’ve ever played in your whole life just isn’t the move. Take moments where the music tells you to make it yours, be apart of the ensemble when it doesn’t. The moment one person starts performing for themselves instead of serving the production, the audience’s attention is pulled away from where it belongs.

If you missed our masterclass with Eric Huffman, DONT WORRY! We’re going to be sharing some of the biggest takeaways over the next few weeks.

Before diving into audition advice and career conversations, I wanted everyone to see just how incredible Eric’s journey has been. From performing onstsage with Book of Mormon for 7 years, to becoming the Music Director for the North American Tour, his career is a testament to just how remarkable he is!

This is just the beginning. We’ll be posting short clips from the class covering auditions, career advice, mindset, and more, so if you couldn’t make the live session, you’ll still get a glimpse of the conversation.

Catch our next masterclass on Tuesday July 15th with MAXIM JEAN! (Link in bio)

Comment “MASTERCLASS” Below and I will personally send you more information about this event

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about Eric Huffman’s Broadway Mock Audition, so I wanted to break down exactly how it works.

🎭 You do NOT have to perform to participate.

🎶 All instruments are welcome.

📝 Participants may submit material they’re already preparing or work from excerpts provided by Eric and I.

📬 While we’ve reached capacity for live feedback during the class, participants can still submit material and receive written feedback via email.

👀 You can also attend simply to observe, learn, and ask questions throughout the session.

💵 Admission is just $5 and is included for all current lesson students.

This is a unique opportunity to learn from the Music Director of the Book of Mormon National Tour and gain insight into the audition process from someone actively working in the industry today.

(P.S please enjoy my voice dropping five octaves on those voice overs as I am battling an illness)

A lot of what I’m building this summer comes from something I experienced during COVID.

While the world was shut down, my professor started hosting virtual masterclasses with artists from all over the world. This opportunity was rare. Not only was it providing us with important career information but we were actually able to get to know them as people too!

Those conversations ended up changing my life. Some of the artists I met through those masterclasses would later become mentors, colleagues, and even help open doors that eventually led me to opportunities like Blue Man Group.

That’s why these masterclasses are such an important part of my studio.

Private lessons are valuable, but I also want students to have access to the people who are actively shaping this industry right now (Broadway musicians, music directors, performers, educators, creators, and artists from all over the world).

Starting this July, studio members will have access to monthly masterclasses with working professionals, and public admission will be available for just $5 because it’s important to me that these opportunities remain accessible to as many people as possible.

You never know which conversation will change your path.
