Working with your favourite global brands, while based in Yorkshire. (& spilling the tea on the industry ☕️)
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
People are not thinking about your content as much as you think they are 😭

& honestly? That’s GREAT news.

If you’re building a personal brand, you need to get comfortable repeating yourself. So stop worrying that you’re “talking about it too much”.

Your core message should be so deeply embedded in your content that you’re almost sick of saying it.

Because the goal isn’t to be known for one good post. It’s to become known for SOMETHING.

And yes, I’m talking about my working-class Northern roots again. Obviously 💅

Also watch until the end to see my selfie light switch itself off and leave me stranded LOL gr8 xxx

Fashion Week is fun. But the Instagram version is, quite literally, the highlight reel 😂

The outfits, shows, events, street style and cute content are the bits you see.

What you don’t see? The 6am starts, 1am finishes, 47 emails before breakfast, running between shows, fixing problems in taxis and making decisions on the move - all while running on caffeine & vibes.

And then there’s everything that happened long before Fashion Week even started: the relationships, the pitching, the positioning, the years of building trust and making sure my girls are front of mind when those opportunities come up.

So yes, it’s glamorous. Yes, we absolutely love it.

But there’s a LOT of work behind the scenes 👩🏼‍💻

Petition for a production company to make a spin-off of Made in Chelsea but instead it follows the lives of Northern creatives because honestly the plot is already there x

Despite me launching E.S Collective in 2024, most of my friends and family still do not understand what I actually do for work. Coming from a working-class background, the world of talent management is an alienating subject…

So here’s a chaotic day-in-the life of a talent manager, following our newest E.S signing @itsbowks as she makes her broadcasting debut at the House of Fashion event with @thetraffordcentre x @britishfashioncouncil, as part of their Fashion Britain initiative launching this month.

Very proud momager moment. Very Northern IT girl moment. Very much just getting started 🫶🏼

4 things I’m doing behind the scenes as a talent manager during Fashion Week:

1. Getting my talent in the RIGHT rooms
2. Content + PR - what can they create beyond “here’s what I wore?”
3. Strategising the wardrobe (yes, even the outfits need a strategy)
4. Turning attendance into actual commercial opportunities

Because babes, Fashion Week is not about the free prosecco or pic for the gram’.

IT’S A BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY.

It might look like glamour, front-row seats & fancy dinners from the outside…

But behind the scenes? I’m doing PR, strategy, relationship building, negotiations, commercial planning and approximately 47,000 emails.

And this is the bit I think people miss:

Being invited is not the strategy.

What you do with the access is.

Who are we meeting?
What relationships are we building?
What conversations can we contribute to?
And most importantly - what could this turn into?

Because Fashion Week is one of the biggest creative gatherings in the calendar. It’s where fashion, culture, technology, media and business collide.

So yes, I absolutely want my talent looking f*cking fabulous.

But I also want them seen, remembered, connected and commercially positioned.

The Prosecco is simply a perk 💅

Now back to my inbox xoxo

Hot take: I don’t think the rise of full-time creators going back to 9-5s means the creator economy is dying.

I think it means the creator economy is maturing.

There’s a huge difference between having an audience and having a sustainable business.

And as a talent manager, one of the biggest things I’m encouraging creators to do right now is think outside of the box. Think bigger. Think bolder. Take this new era in their stride.

That doesn’t mean you need to quit creating content. It means you need to build beyond creating content.

I actually found something Maggie Sellers said on a recent solo episode of the HSR Podcast really interesting, when she spoke about what the top 1% of creators are doing differently. A big part of that conversation was around not relying on one income stream - and it really reinforced what I’m saying here.

The creators who treat their platform like the foundation of a business - rather than the entire business - are the ones I think will have the most longevity.

Being a creator is a career.

But it’s also a business.

And you need to start building it like one 💭

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like inside my head, babe… it’s basically 57 tabs open and one of them is analysing why I chose a charcoal grey background.

POV: your personal brand strategy has a personality, backstory and probably its own birth certificate.

Type B business owners, if you’re still here, I’m honestly impressed because I know this video is probably sending you into a spiral xxx

The thing is, none of these details are groundbreaking on their own. But personal branding is basically a thousand tiny decisions all pointing in the same direction until people understand who you are before you’ve even opened your mouth.

Anyway, if you need me, I’ll be spending the next three hours deciding whether one shade of brown feels more “industrial North of England founder” than another 🫡

A huge congratulations to Isobelle on hosting her very first @corporateagonyaunt community event on Tuesday ✨

Co-hosted with @stefaniesw, they brought together a room full of ambitious women in Manchester for an honest conversation about building a career on your own terms - alongside guest speakers Social Strategist @claudiaccardinali and career confession/recruitment queen Emily Moffat (@career.confessions).

No surface-level networking. No corporate buzzwords. Just real talk on learning, earning, taking opportunities, backing yourself and creating a successful career that works for you.

And in true fashion as the woman who DOES IT ALLLL, the event day also became the perfect springboard for Isobelle to refresh her personal branding assets on a shoot with @laurencesmedia 📸

From powerful conversations and new connections to capturing the next chapter of the Corporate Agony Aunt brand, this was a pretty huge milestone - and it was so special to have been a small part of it.

Here’s to building careers, communities and opportunities without waiting for permission 🥂💼

These are 3 non-negotiables for me when it comes to getting my talent paid properly. AD @usesheer_com

The biggest shift??? Having actual data from Sheer to back every conversation.

Game changer.

And honestly, the best part is you can actually test it properly first. They’re offering a 14-day free trial, so you can get in there, see how it works for your roster and decide if it’s for you before committing.

Then if you do continue, you can use my code ELLISHA to get 50% off your first 2 months. (Simply apply the code directly at usesheer.com, easy peasy.)

If you’re trying to get your systems tighter and your creators paid properly… it’s worth a look.
