‘The second exhibition in our new galleries on Savile Row is a group show inspired by Oscar Wilde’s novella, Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime. Wilde’s story, with its eclectic cast of characters situated in acidly etched London, is the stimulus for an exhibition of works of various scales and mediums. Our building was initially built as an arts club in 1870, recalling a period of intimate exhibitions and society gatherings that Wilde fictionalised within the milieu of Mayfair. The restored gallery reflects the neighbourhood’s artistic lineage, and the artists participating in the Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime exhibition sit with the shadows of those exhibited in the area since the founding of the Royal Academy in the late eighteenth century.

Set within spaces that once hosted similar salons, with a scenography that responds to that maximalist aesthetic, the exhibition Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime reimagines the relationship these sites hold to art, social behaviour and the potential drama of narrative. The works presented engage with a satire that reflects staged human behaviour as a contemporary response to Wilde’s fervent and monstrous Mayfair…’

Ernst Yohji Jaeger

Ernst Yohji Jaeger (b. 1990, Frankfurt am Main, Germany) starts his paintings with the process of applying, building up and sanding away layers of paint. He continues this until something emerges on the canvas that demands to be formulated. Although he initiates the process, his practice strives to relinquish as much control as possible over the eventual image. He is less interested in formulating or executing a predetermined idea, concept or message, and more in the challenge of letting go of what is familiar, conscious or learned. The layers of colour that have accumulated beneath the painting’s surface through his preparatory process give the image its foundation. Upon this ground appear architectural elements, figures, plants, shadows, various objects and motifs that he carefully pulls from his observations of everyday life.

See three of his paintings at Kunsthalle Wien Museumsquartier in the ‘Lebt und arbeitet in Wien’ exhibition.

Crèvecœur @galerie_crevecoeur presents Calamondin, a solo exhibition by Ernst Yohji Jaeger @e_yohji , on view at the gallery’s 5 & 7 rue de Beaune space in Paris from 11 June to 25 July 2026. Born in 1990 in Germany and now living and working in Vienna, Jaeger takes his title from the small citrus tree that has lived in his studio through a near-death and a slow recovery — a private ordeal that becomes, across the paintings gathered here, a way of thinking about what can and cannot be forced out of a body of work. Thom Oosterhof @thomoosterhofprojects paid a visit.
