A conversation about design that gives back. ❤️

During @glue.amsterdam Connected by Design, I had the honour of joining @odette_ex @ea.polman and @robert_bronwasser for a panel on regenerative design, beautifully moderated by my niece @cocoleysner .

In this reel, I share the story behind my latest interactive art light installation, HEART BEAT. A work about love, connection, empathy and the invisible rhythm that connects us all.

But HEART BEAT is also about turning emotion into action.

The HEART BEAT project is connected to a fundraiser, with 100% of the profits donated to @righttoplaynl , a non-profit organisation using the power of play to educate and empower children facing adversity.

Because perhaps regenerative design is ultimately about this: creating something that continues to give.

This collaboration started with a question: How can our 3D knitting technique be meaningfully applied within the interior sector?

@odette_ex joined us in the Textile Room to explore that potential.

Using our design tool, Odette worked closely with our Product Design Lead @ea.polman, driven by a clear vision while staying open to dialogue and shared exploration. With deep care for detail, material, and craftsmanship, she embraced what our textiles can do. The kind of creative energy we love to build with.

Together, they explored color, texture, and materiality, and how spaces shape the way we feel and live. This partnership demonstrates that when talent, technology, and design vision come together, there is room to push boundaries, innovate locally, and make an international impact.

It’s incredible to see how @atelier.iris.nijenhuis reimagined our textiles for the @carpetdiemparis exhibition.

Turning knits from our Sample Sale into Iréka, a sculptural piece that reimagines what repurposing textile can look like.

By combining upcycled felt from @ididnl with our repurposed knitted textiles, she explored the dialogue between waste and worth, discovering beauty in what already exists.

Proof that innovation is as much about reimagining as it is about creating something new.
