Two of Australia’s most brilliant musicians played at 21 Shepherd - two gigs back to back to sold out houses. A rare, intimate gathering around this unmissable duo performance of superb improvisation.

JEREMY ROSE and CHRIS ABRAHAMS

This previous review nails it:
“In one fell swoop, two of the strongest forces in Australian jazz, both of whose music is drenched in melodic beauty, are joined, creating what is palpably a masterpiece.”

‘Growth in Stasis’ is finally yours and out everywhere..! 💿🔊🌌

For years I’ve been dreaming up this combination of sounds and influences of mine and wanting to offer my own perspective. It look so long for all of this to materialize into what it is now and I absolutely could not have done it alone.

THANK YOU to the wonderful team of musicians who brought their musicianship, creativity and care to the project: @redfadoli @iamsimonwillson @angusmasonplaysthedrums @alexandra.ridout @fredlikestheinternet @calebapple123 @johnellismusic

Thank you to the recording / mix mastering team for their expertise: @samuraihotelrecording @jlouca

Thank you to @earshiftmusic for their help releasing and distributing the album, as well as @jazzfuel for their help with the PR campaign.

Thank you to @taragilbee for the beautiful album artwork and to @samrowley__ for documenting the recording session and to @golnazcore for the album design and listening to me yap constantly about this project for god knows how long

Finally - thank you to anyone who has supported me at any point in my musical life. Every bit of your presence at any of my performances, listening to any of my past offerings, encouragement, friendship and support is truly what keeps me going on this wild ride..!

Vinyls and CDs are available for purchase through my Bandcamp page if you wanna hold this thing in your hands.

I hope the music resonates with you 🫂

🔔 Out today from our PR roster:
Stephen Byth - Growth In Stasis

Australian saxophonist and composer Stephen Byth returns with Growth in Stasis, an expansive contemporary jazz album balancing lyrical composition, cinematic textures and adventurous improvisation.
Drawing on modern jazz, classical music, film scoring and subtle electronics, the album explores how uncertainty, vulnerability and contradiction can become catalysts for change rather than obstacles to overcome.

"exactly the kind of jazz that deserves to live in both worlds: the large festival stage, where a broad audience can encounter its expansive sound, and the small club, where the details become impossible to ignore. Growth in Stasis belongs in either setting because it understands something fundamental about jazz. The music can be intellectually demanding and physically immediate at the same time. It can make you think without forgetting that you came to hear music." - Paris Move (FR)
