If you want to develop a skill set around Cross Ashi, you can’t just wait to end up there randomly in live rounds. You must situationally train it. Start in the position. Fail. Learn. Rebuild.

✅ Intentional reps
🔄 Specific resistance
📚 Focused study of reactions

That’s how you get dangerous from Cross Ashi.

Not bringing back hardware for the second year in a row hurts my heart TBH. It’s what we all work for and anyone who says they aren’t sad that they lost, is lying. I did however, show LOADS of improvement from last years worlds to this year. I was able to win two matches with quick submissions, I landed a takedown that I’ve been working and had a GOOD MATCH in the quarter finals with an absolute DAWG of an opponent. We had a good match, but I made the first mistake and got caught. Which reminds me that I need to work on my triangle defense 😂 And I got to spend time in Vegas with people that I ADORE! Life is weird, and life is beautiful and life can also be hurtful. But we pick ourselves up and soldier on to the next because that’s what we do!

Big Congrats to John Roback taking 🥈at @ibjjf Master Worlds. John lost in the finals to a referee decision in a tightly contested match but John will be back next year to chase Gold. Well done John. 🫡

Steve had a great run this weekend, and although he was ranked #1 for Worlds, anything can happen and he lost in the QTR Finals after winning two matches to a very talented opponent from France. Here is Steve executing a sweep from Reverse X using the Cross Ashi Garami entry and heisting up for ✌🏼

Sunday is for the girls! I was so blessed to get to roll with so many amazing, and tough women today. I am feeling more ready for master worlds than ever. I’m excited to represent Atlanta in Las Vegas.

I’m very thankful to have so many friends in the Atlanta area. And so many friends willing to share their mat space with me.

Thank you to all the women @nucleusbjj
thank you @patwarythelegend and @novauniaoatl for hosting a Sunday takedown class for the community.
