On Friday morning, Emmanuel College celebrated the Nursing Pinning Ceremony for our traditional undergraduate BSN students, a tradition recognizing their transition from nursing students to professional nurses.

Over the past four years, these students completed rigorous coursework, simulation labs and clinical experiences at hospitals and healthcare institutions across Boston. Through every challenge, they built the knowledge, confidence and compassion that define Emmanuel nurses.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026 nursing students on this meaningful milestone!

Congratulations to nursing major Daniel Posada Alvarez ’27, who was recently awarded the Clinical Assistant Nursing Scholarship from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Daniel began at Dana-Farber as a high school intern before growing into his current role as a clinical assistant while earning his nursing degree at Emmanuel. The scholarship supports clinical assistants at Dana-Farber as they pursue their BSN education and continue preparing for careers in nursing.

Since arriving at Emmanuel, Daniel has also gained clinical experience at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Boston Medical Center.

“Emmanuel helped me grow within the professional environment I was already a part of,” Daniel said.

Emmanuel College welcomed Dr. Trautman for a guest lecture this week, which highlighted how advocacy, education, and partnerships are essential for nursing and healthcare as a whole.

Dr. Trautman’s shout-out highlighted Emmanuel’s Summer Nursing Academy, the Patient Care Technician Program, and the RN-to-BSN program; all are partnerships that promote healthcare careers and help students earn real-world experience through the Maureen Murphy Wilkens School of Nursing & Clinical Sciences.

Libby Tennant ’27 came to Emmanuel looking for strong academics and the chance to keep competing. Through clinical experiences across Boston and mentorship from faculty, she’s building the confidence to step into patient care, as well as mentoring nursing students who are just getting started.

This week, a third cohort of Patient Care Technicians completed training through Emmanuel College’s partnership with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (@bidmchealth).
