“And then there’s Audrey / lovely Audrey” 🪴🩸🌱♥️

I have a story to share.

Once upon a time (February 10), Belle joined a Zoom meeting to help choose PPAC’s high school summer stage show. She’d had the most incredible experience in Rent & couldn’t wait to return. During the meeting, they thoughtfully worked through dozens (& dozens!) of possible shows. At one point, Belle unmuted herself to throw one more into the mix:
Little Shop of Horrors.

They added it to the list and in that moment, for some reason, I snapped a pic.

In April, she made me cry with her audition video, as she tenderly sang the final verse of “Somewhere That’s Green.” She followed a dedicated practice schedule, researched lozenges & vocal tinctures, chugged Throat Coat & took immunity shots, and quietly manifested this role by taking a photo every day captioned simply, “Audrey.” She got the part.

But what made this experience so extraordinary wasn’t just getting to play Audrey. It was feeling truly seen, valued, encouraged, and trusted. For a young performer, that’s everything.

This company was like none other. A supremely talented cast of a dozen high schoolers, a masterful directing and production team, and, most importantly, the nicest people in every direction. I even made friends!

Belle challenged herself in new ways, including having her first on-stage slap, first on-stage death, and first big ol’ on-stage kiss, which not only brought the house down but left Liam with a face full of red lipstick. Everyone in that theater was rooting for Seymour and Audrey, as they were impossible not be charmed by; not to love. Belle has done a lot of theatre, but I’ve never seen her happier in a production. Or, perhaps, anywhere.

To everyone who poured into this show, cheered them on, coached her, texted for casting updates, sat in the audience, or supported her behind the scenes: thank you.

I know she’ll always carry Audrey with her.
And I have a feeling there will always be a place for her... somewhere that’s green. 💚

Heated Rivalry: my favorite Threads edition 🫶🏻

If you’re caught in the Heated Rivalry psychosis like I am, please feel free to scroll through so we can all giggle and kick our feet together 🫶🏻 if there’s anything I love more than HR, it’s talking about HR. I could wax poetic for hours and still have more thoughts. Here’s to hoping this and my rereads will hold me over until season 2 😂 Happy Sunday, friends!
