Chapter 7 out of 9: Community 🤎
I used to think healing was something you had to do by yourself. But the more I’ve grown, the more I’ve realized how much we really need one another.

Sometimes you don’t need someone to fix anything. You just need someone who understands. Someone to sit beside you, drink a cafecito, laugh with you, and let you catch your breath for a little bit.

You Are Not Alone reminds me that we were never meant to carry life alone. There is so much healing in simply showing up for one another. 🤎

You Are Not Alone is part of my solo exhibition Para las Hijas Mayores (For the Eldest Daughters) at Pearson Community Center, on view through October 22. @ccpublicarts

From Henderson, Nevada to Erlangen, Germany, the alarming stories of ICE separating families is reaching far.

Months ago, I drew an #iceoutcomic in collaboration with @edcolibre as an attempt to speak out with the tools I have. This effort felt so small in the grand scheme of what was/is happening, but all the comic artists’ work reached @larsvontoerne all the way in Germany and he reached out to highlight the series in this year’s @comicsalon_er as a way to educate international audiences about what’s happening on the ground in the US.

The #iceoutcomics prompt was started by @woodmanmaynard trungles, @jasonwwalz and @seemybrotherdance and I’m so thankful and honored to bring attention to this major human rights issue along with these amazing artists.

Though these were released at the beginning of the year, ICE continues to impact our communities all over the country. Las Vegas friends, please follow @lvdefensa @edcolibre and @nvimmigrantcoalition for the latest updates and actions.

Through this interactive writing workshop, participants will explore the connection between memory, embodiment, and testimonio — a historic cultural practice used by Latinx communities as a way of sharing experiences and fostering collective healing.

✨ Come take some time for yourself, put your thoughts into words, and connect with others in a welcoming space.

I’m excited to share a little more about my first solo exhibition titled: Para las Hijas Mayores (For the Eldest Daughters)

Identity. Sacrifice. Roots. Grief. Motherhood. Healing. Community. Breaking the cycle. Nurturing.

Healing wasn’t the destination. It became the path toward belonging.

Day 3 & 4 of LYLC 📣

Students took a field trip to the College of Southern Nevada and Nevada State University to explore the many educational opportunities available to them! 🏫📚

In addition to touring the campuses and learning about academic programs, students heard from representatives of the A’s team, Parks and Recreation, Co-Libre Education, and participated in career conversations with professionals from a variety of fields. It was an inspiring day of learning, exploring future possibilities, and discovering new career paths. 💼💫

We can’t wait to see where their journeys take them! ✨

So many people came through today at my event and made over 100+ sandwiches & trail mix bags with us! Many canned goods and other items were donated.
These were brought to @thesolidarityfridge in Las Vegas for those in need!
Keep an eye on my account for the next event!
