SEQUEL-ATHON 2 GAME SHOWCASE MARATHON, DAY 4: We couldn’t do this electric boogaloo without the DK Island monkeys themselves. We’re checking out one of my favorite games of all time, DONKEY KONG COUNTRY 2, for the SNES! This game has been categorized as one of the legends by many in the gaming community and for good reason too. Everything that was in the original game was improved: gorgeous levels and sprites, memorable enemies and bosses, and some of the best music in video game history (remember “Stickerbush Symphony”?) by the great @davidwisecomposer ! Let’s not also forget that it’s tough as hell… even tougher than the original. This one definitely redefined gaming back in the day and still holds a torch as one of the GOATs. 🗓 ORIGINAL RELEASE: 11/21/1995 📺 SWIPE FOR CLASSIC 🇺🇸 TV COMMERCIAL! 🕹My Legendary Partners🕹 👾 @vidgameamigo 👾 @simplicity_gaming_ 👾 @banditthecollector 👾 @silver_fox_gaming_36 👾 @shyspooksttv 👾 @gamingpints 👾 @robsgamecollection 👾 @thedutchgamecave 👾 @peachy170802 ...and check out the tagged creators as well! ——————————————————— Fuel up your gaming experience with @dubby.gg Use code FIX8D for 10% off your next purchase at www.dubby.gg 📌TAGS📌 #donkeykongcountry2 #snesgames #supernintendo #donkeykong #retrovideogames

This is definitely a special #mariomonday post as this is a collaboration with many other creators! If you haven’t seen the reel that is attached to this post, but this is a TRAVELING SUPER MARIO WORLD cart that is visiting many gamers around the United States. (Check out my previous reel for a more depth look at this event!) The event is being hosted by @doctorgamerretro and how this is being done is that the game is mailed to each gamer and they the game until the next save point. During my gameplay, I played a stage in the Vanilla Dome, opened up some areas that weren’t accessible yet in Donut Plains, and took on a ghost house there. Now, the cart is on its way to California! Want to join in on this celebration of physical media and live in the United States? We’d love for this event to continue to grow! All you need is an SNES to play the game and be added to our chat. Easy! Let me know if you’d like to be a part of this awesome event! ——————————————————— Fuel up your gaming experience with @dubby.gg Use code FIX8D for 10% off your next purchase at www.dubby.gg 📌TAGS📌 #supernintendo #snesgames #supermarioworld #physicalmediaforever

WELCOME BACK TO HOLLYWOOD GAME SHOWCASE MARATHON, DAY 3: Our third Hollywood day takes us to Chicago during the Prohibition era and joining a team of cops who take on the notorious Al Capone. Say hello to “The Untouchables”, a game loosely based on the 1987 film. The game actually follows the majority of the film as some levels do take place during scenes of the movie. As a fan of the film, I didn’t know this even existed. It was a highly praised game at the time of release and one that should be in your collection if you are a fan of this genre of games. 🗓 ORIGINAL RELEASE: 8/1994 📺 SWIPE FOR CLASSIC 🇺🇸 TV COMMERCIAL! ——————————————————— Fuel up your gaming experience with @dubby.gg Use code FIX8D for 10% off your next purchase at www.dubby.gg 📌TAGS📌 #supernintendo #snesgames #videogames #retrovideogames #moviegames

WELCOME BACK TO HOLLYWOOD GAME SHOWCASE MARATHON, DAY 2: Welcome… to Jurassic Park. The Lost World, that is. The dinosaurs made their way to the PS1 with this side-scrolling adventure. The player has the option of choosing 5 playable characters, 3 Dinos and 2 humans. This, like Hook, does it own thing and completely ignores the events of the sequel film but does have its own story with each character chosen. The game had mediocre reviews at release, but it does have an awesome holographic cover, which I also added on this showcase. 🗓 ORIGINAL RELEASE: 8/26/1997 📺 SWIPE FOR CLASSIC 🇺🇸 TV COMMERCIAL! AVGN TRIBUTE GAME SHOWCASE MARATHON, DAY 6: What you’re looking at right now is one of the AVGN’s most hated games. In his second episode, he couldn’t even finish it because it was so bad. That’s how this game, DR JEKYLL & MR HYDE, got its notoriety among fans. This game is extremely difficult and extremely frustrating. Everything and everyone is out to get you and beating this one requires tons of patience and much trial and error. The AVGN couldn’t finish it on the first run and it took REVISITING it years later to finally conquer it. I’m glad I got this one in my collection. AVGN TRIBUTE GAME SHOWCASE MARATHON, DAY 5: If there was one thing that AVGN showed me during his show, it’s that there actually exist Bible-themed games. And they were made as cash grabs because they were BAD. Take this one, for instance. BIBLE ADVENTURES carries 3 adventures based on Noah, Moses, and David. But the games are plagued with horrible controls, terrible music, and as the AVGN said, a complete ripoff to SUPER MARIO BROS 2. Imagine paying almost $50 at the time of release for this! The game, along with all the others, definitely made a great trilogy of episodes though. So at least there’s that.
