You see the doors opening. I remember asking God for the strength to keep going when nothing was moving.

The late nights. The sacrifices. The failures. Showing up with a whole lot on my mind and still finding a way to pour into somebody else.

Special place to me @edge_strong

Discipline requires making a series of decisions regularly in order to build a habit.

What I love the most about @edge_strong is that the hardest part of deciding to go to the gym is done for me - the workout is on the board. I just have to throw on some clothes and pick a time to go.

I was staring at my computer this afternoon with work piling up. It’s been three days since I’ve gotten a good workout in. I feel mentally exhausted when I haven’t moved my body. So I shut it down for the day and headed to the gym.

It was a brutal @edge_strong leg day, but I felt so much better afterwards.

A long term goal for anyone on a fitness journey is to find something that makes you feel better when you are done. For me it’s a solid strength training session.

This may not come easy in the beginning, but is a great source of motivation the longer you are in this lifelong journey.

To anyone I work with that sees this, I’ll answer my emails in 24 hours. 😂

I was 21 when I decided to give up on my dreams of becoming a Dentist.
-
Deep down I knew it wouldn’t bring me happiness.
-
I developed a passion for fitness, got myself in shape, and in that process I found out I really enjoy helping other people do the same.

Once I realized life is about helping people, everything else seemed to fall in place 🫡

✨️This week's Healthy Business Highlight goes out to @not_yo_mamas_mealprep ✨️

ABC Health & Fitness had the pleasure of meeting Melanie, the proud Owner and Chef 👩🏼‍🍳 behind Not Yo Mama's Meal Prep.

This Healthy Business Highlight is very special, and we wanted to put Not Yo Mama's in the Spotlight with Mother's Day just passing. This isn't just a Business, this is a Business with Purpose, and Heart. 💜

Melanie dedicated this Business to her Mother after her passing of Renal Failure. Melanie is keeping her Mother's Legacy alive in such a special way! This Woman not only delivers the BEST Fresh NEVER frozen Meal Preps, but she also is an advocate for her Customers. Tweaking Meals to people's diet plans or food restrictions, checking in at the counter to ask them how they are, and catering to every Customer in their own unique way. This kind of compassion and customer service is unmatched.

Not Yo Mama's deserves the recognition, and Melanie is a walking poster for how changing your eating habits can absolutely turn your entire life around. When Melanie found out she had the same diagnosis as her Mother, she didn't let that stop her....she conquered it head on.
After eating her own Meal Preps and sticking to her meal plans, Melanie lost 216lbs. 👏👏👏
THAT'S A TESTIMONY❕️❕️❕️

If you're looking for all natural fresh meals, unparalleled Customer Service, and a smile that lights up the whole room.....we highly recommend Not Yo Mama's Meal Prep.

🌟CLIENT SHOUTOUT🌟

Troy and I have been working together consistently with 1 on 1 coaching for the last 6 months now. In the last 6 months he's put on 5lbs of muscle mass and increased his strength significantly. All from showing up 2-3 days a week and putting the work in. While working a full time job and going back to school!!

Here’s what Troy has to say about his progress ⤵️

“As most of us probably know or have experienced, I’ve always had a hard time with self-image growing up. I always viewed myself as “too skinny” and found it near impossible to gain any sort of muscle mass. I’m so happy and proud to say that after working with Shelby for 6 months consistently, I have finally started seeing some changes. I not only feel more healthy and energetic, but I’m also witnessing in front of my eyes physical changes for the better. Shelby continues to push for me to work harder and has always had my best interests at heart. It’s not always easy and there are days where you want to quit altogether. I’m here to say that it absolutely is possible if you train your mind to think differently and don’t give up! I’m looking forward to seeing how the next 6 months shape up!”

Keep up the great work, Troy 🤩

Big shoutout to @edge_strong here in Indy for putting on a phenomenal event. Wrapped this up before heading to the football game and then working men’s soccer for @depauwathletics — definitely feeling it tonight, but proud of the grind. Sometimes you gotta prove you are still HIM.

Next stop ➡️ DEKA MILE in December. Let’s keep building. 💪🏽

Would you do a race like this?

Yesterday I was honored to spend time with the members at @edge_strong to dive into shoulder health for the functional fitness athlete.

For me, having the ability to interact with people within a community I adore (functional fitness) and to see the tangible impact of my work play out in front of me is a treat beyond measure.

Every visible lightbulb moment for these awesome athletes is a reminder that with all the information we have available, not many are distilling it down in ways that make sense for everyone.

I love holding these workshops because they allow me the opportunity to connect with people and help breakdown the barrier between fitness and healthcare (and yes there is one).

The shoulder is a complex joint, but getting it to work well doesn’t have to be. Big thanks to EDGE and @c.a.estridge for having me! Can’t wait for the next one 💪🏼

What my workouts look like for the average person who's trying to be above average. 😌

Some weeks look different than others.

This is not to brag but being someone who works over 40 hours every single week, it’s easy to find excuses to miss workouts. That’s the reality though, we’re all busy. We have to MAKE the time. That’s all.

K bye 👋🏼 #SLS
