I was made to bring joy, service, and perspective 🙏🏾

This year was filled with joyful moments, loving reunions with family, friends, making new memories with my love @nickywaterz , rewarding career experiences, and finding more of myself through both adventure and solitude. My mom got married!! Such a beautiful moment I never thought I’d witness, and getting to walk her down the aisle was a gift that I’ll cherish forever. Still, behind these joyful moments, was a grief that’s hard to explain. Besides the loss of Nana, one of my dearest and closest family members, I navigated a myriad of physical and mental health challenges, and have been really devastated by the world we live in (which I share about often in my stories). Despite the treachery, 2025 didn’t break me like other years have in the past. (I’m sure there’s some astrological reason, and honestly, at 41, I give so fewer fucks. Maybe it was because there was much loving connection throughout the year). I still have hope. Things must change, but there’s a hope within me that they will, and I’m feeling ready to bring that forward and be part of the change. I am so grateful for the joy sprinkled here and the people who contributed to it. I hope this makes you smile as it did for me, and I hope you’re able to look back and find those glimmers in 2025 for yourself.

She’s MARRIED!! @ednaprim

Still reeling (pun intended) from the incredible time spent with my love @nickywaterz + family and friends celebrating my mom’s first real wedding. From the epic experience at Kleinfeld all the way to the big weekend, she was surrounded friends from her entire life span (and mine) - an already beautiful moment enhanced by love, support, and championship.

Mom is proof that your dreams are always possible, and she has pursued hers with courage, grace, joy, and vulnerability. The gift of giving her away alongside my brothers Stephen and Gerald still fills me with pure radiance.

Thank you to everyone who has been there for my mom and our family over the years, and to those who came to the ceremony and the preceding events, you made this so special for our family!!

When you have friends like @jessiburgo - the kind you can laugh with, travel with, struggle with, share anything with, the kind that always shows up 100%, that feels like family - you really want them to get back the beauty and love they put out into the world x 1,000. I’m honored that I got to witness the union of @christophersinnott and @jessiburgo a beautiful connection and love that I never saw coming. We have mused over many years what kind of husband she would have, getting down to the qualities that she valued and the type of life she wanted to build. We thought he was somewhere out in the ether. It was the greatest surprise to know that we already knew the person who would love and care for her the way she deserved. Your persistence is a thing of gold @christophersinnott . Timing is everything, and in this case, times crossed with absolute perfection. Thank you to my plus one @ednaprim for flying out to celebrate with us and bringing her style A game.

Today, we laid my dearest Nana to rest. We got to have her for 84 wonderful years. Nana, you will be missed, you will be remembered, and your legacy will go on.

When You Ask About Barbara…

When you ask about Barbara Jean…
You will hear the meaning of family
You will hear about sacrifice, love, and hardship,
But you will hear she did whatever it took –
You will hear it took her all.
You’ll be told of a complex, deep rooted tree,
Ancestors carving twists and turns of familial bark
That sometimes left her in the dark
And you will hear of perseverance, of determination,
For a better life than was handed to her.

When you ask about Mom…
You will hear the definition of strength
Even when it was hard to make sense
Of the challenges and trials she faced each day
You will hear she pioneered a new trajectory, paved a new path
Brightening the future of her three daughters, foundations made to last
She loved her girls fiercely and was always so proud
When she cheered or egged them on, she sure was loud!
She was a force, mother and father, making choices for good
A legacy for generations now appears where she stood.

When you ask about Nana…
You’ll hear she was full of personality, always stylish, with purple galore.
Jewels and jumpsuits, dresses and boots, J’adore.
You’ll be told that she had her own vocabulary, sayings you’d never forget.
You might be a silly goose that day, but laughter always came next.
You’ll hear that each grandchild’s relationship with her was unique,
From oldest to youngest, those bonds were unbreakable,
as she attended every play, recital, performance, and graduation,
Pride always bursting from her.
You will hear the meaning of unconditional love
You’ll hear that she was only a phone call away,
Always ready to give sound advice, hold us accountable, or just listen.
You’ll be told she pulled no punches, gave it to us straight.
But defended us passionately, held us when we cried…
You’ll hear that she made sure we knew we were loved.
