There's a LOT of nuance in this topic, that's for sure. This just scratches the surface.

But, what I want to you gain from this clip is validation that whatever type of movement you're doing right now is WORTH IT.

The barrier to entry for fitness, to feel truly healthy and well, is tragically high for most.

Let's educate, of course, but aim to break down more barriers than we build.

This is the real key to long-term success.

Self-management skills will allow you to adapt to whatever life throws at you.

As much as we wish we could stick to our foundational routine with no bumps in the rode, that just isn't realistic.

The consequence of working smarter not harder? Getting the best results possible, in body and mind.

✨ This is something I'll teach during the Summer of Strength challenge. Want to be a part of it? Comment STRENGTH below, and get the sign-up link (it's FREE) sent right to your inbox. 🖤

What's the difference between an exercise that's prescribed for rehab, vs. an exercise that's appropriate for your everyday fitness routine? Spoiler alert...it DEPENDS.

Rehab and strength training are meant to build your capacity. Where you're at on the spectrum, and what would benefit you most at any moment, will vary across the course of your life (and even day to day).

In this episode (dropped just in time, on the last day of Women's History Month) – Dr. Meg goes over a protocol for triaging your current baseline, adjusting your routine accordingly, and ensuring that you maintain your health and get the results you deserve.

The secret to success? (as it relates to your health and well-being...)

➡️ Break down your end goal into really digestible steps.

Carry out the first step, no matter how small. Allow yourself to enjoy that feeling.

📌 The upward spiral is a concept describing a self-reinforcing loop of positive outcomes. Positive outcomes can manifest in the form of emotions, behaviors, and neural activity that leads to increased well-being, resilience, and success in achieving a desired health status. Feeling successful impacts your brain chemistry, helping build momentum.

Eventually, you can sit back and watch in amazement as your small, incremental changes ADD UP.

Before you can get the results you want...before you can successfully take on more 'intense' activities (e.g., strength training to failure, HIIT cardio, etc), you need to ensure you're working with a solid foundation.

That solid foundation is a ✨regulated nervous system✨

Trust me, you'll know when you're there... all of a sudden you'll feel more peaceful and grounded, starting and ending your day with a calmer and more enjoyable state of mind, you'll start to feel less body tension, you'll start to feel less emotionally reactive, you'll start to handle life's stressors with more ease. Can you imagine? 🤯

You need to have the energy bandwidth available, to take on big health and fitness goals.

You can't just willpower through everything. We are organisms that require so many chemical reactions and processes to function, and those require energy production. The supply is not endless, if we do not fuel and take care of the tank properly.

If you jump right into an intense regimen, without attending to the most basic underlying health metrics first, you mighttt be able to physically sustain the routine (at least for a while)...but at what cost?

🔑 Nervous system regulation starts with the slow, intentional, mindful stuff that assures your brain that you are SAFE.

This assurance of safety not only makes you feel great, but it allows you to then add-on other health habits and behaviors, and prevent injury and burnout, so you get the best results from your hard work.

Want to learn more? Want a guided breathing technique you can do in 30 seconds or more, that will help you achieve this glorious goal and unlock your full potential?

It's SCIENCE, baby.✨

Educated, Empowered, & Enthused #3 (@educated.empowered.enthused) is out now! "Why Prioritizing Your Mental Health Is Badass" - Listen on Spotify & Apple Podcasts.

🔑 Physical pain and emotional distress are both functional signals - the result of neurochemical reactions in your brain, telling you to take action to keep yourself healthy and well.

If anyone ever makes you feel like going to physical therapy for back pain is admirable, but seeing a therapist for debilitating anxiety is unnecessary, shameful, or a sign of weakness...show them this video. Listen to the podcast episode (or watch video on YouTube) together.

This episode is packed with neuroscience facts, applicable tools to reduce your stress, and hopefully the validation you so deserve.

If you are struggling, know that you matter and you are not alone.

Reflecting on this month of 🖤…

This February:

➡️ I launched the new @lovelybonespt booking page, opened up my schedule, and immediately started working with new patients and clients that I am honored to serve. 🙏🏼🥺

➡️ I led a Wellness Workshop focused on the use of breathwork & meditative mobility to reduce stress. ✨

➡️ I re-released & re-vamped the @educated.empowered.enthused podcast 🎙️ (episode 1 focuses on mindset 🧠).

➡️ I committed to a content schedule for the first time (posting on socials 2-3 times per week, and sending out a weekly email newsletter ✉️) and saw significant outreach growth.

➡️ I taught my first early morning livestream FLOW class in multiple months, for a great cause (@_beamorg). 🫶🏼

➡️ I hosted a 1-year free Lovely Bones Membership 💀giveaway, promoting the use of exercise as a self-love practice, in an effort to break down emotional and access barriers related to fitness. 👊🏼

➡️ I committed to my fitness, nutrition, and stress management goals… and leaned into my husband and besties (s/o to the rush of dopamine from my @target trip to better furnish the HQ) in an effort to keep myself feeling as well as possible during this crazy transition to full time self-employment. 😶

What a month it’s been. I am beyond grateful for your support.

With 🖤💀 - Dr. Meg
