Hi, I’m James! I’ve started a business: to help small business owners get some of their time back, do more of what matters to them, and lighten the load.

It’s called BusyOctopus.

I’m running half-day workshops to give you 3 skills utilising AI that you can take away to save you hours every week.

And I offer custom-built 1:1 solutions for you too, that are tailored for you and your work, that you can keep using, without losing your human touch or compromising on your values (like using AI posters, which I don’t recommend. And I can show you lower impact models that run on renewable energy, for example)

I’m testing if this is something local people want

Follow @busyoctopusai if you’d like to see it develop.

Comment ‘BusyOctopus’ and as an early follower you’ll get 20% off workshops- dates coming soon!

Turns out, getting good people in a room together really is sometimes the answer.

A heartfelt thank you to Sam & James from @edventurefrome , @rajanrussell from Station Approach (who arrived bearing @rye_bakery pastries ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) and @annadina_harp from @chesterbladehills for being the first DOUBLE HIGH FIVERS 🙌🙌 to say YES to an idea I’d been mulling over.

Coming from a sports background and with a moto of I choose J.O.Y., sharing knowledge, learning from each other’s mistakes and supporting the people around you just makes complete sense to me.

So I thought; why aren’t all of us providing coworking spaces, offices, CIC spaces, places for founders, creatives, makers, machinery operatives and everything in between, in and around Frome, doing more of that together?

These gorgeous humans shared my enthusiasm.

We drank @cliftoncoffee , inhaled @rye_bakery goodies and shared some really interesting stories, including the mistakes, the difficult bits and the vulnerabilities, both business and personal. Because running these places and building things takes energy, and pretending otherwise doesn’t help anyone.

(Thank you @brenebrown for getting me here, will be re reading your books again soon! 😂💛.)

I learnt A LOT.

And, even better, we now have a closed WhatsApp group so we can support one another rather than all reinventing the wheel separately.

Next gathering will be in February, hosted at one of @annadina_harp three sites. If you run a coworking space, offices, CIC, founders’ space, creative/maker space or something else that belongs in this slightly eclectic catalogue of ours; PLEASE reach out. You will be very warmly welcomed.

Getting people together seems like the most common-sense thing in the world to me.

Here’s to sharing the mistakes, sharing the knowledge, cheering each other on and making the whole ecosystem around Frome stronger together.

Hope to see lots more of you gorgeous people at the February gathering. FLOWERS courtesy of Anna Dina gorgeous daughter 💐🥰✌️

Let’s all support each other. xxxxx SWSUS MAWR WLYB #frome #coworking #collaboration #offices #listen

💥BEFORE / AFTER TRANSFORMATION!!!

Just 4 months ago we only had this small space underneath @edventurefrome to bring Fromebase to life!

Swipe left to see our journey so far ⬅️

After Paul our neighbour moved to a more rural location we had a chat with Charles from @baxtercreative to see what the possibilities might be if we opened out the space 🤓

The lovely Terry Pinto @rooibosman a fab local architect helped us bring it alive with a more complex CAD design to help convince our board we weren’t bonkers! 😜

NOW….we have this brilliant MASSIVE space that houses our Fromebase store and all your lovely donations, @sharefrome at the back, a great workshop space, a new big counter and cafe area, room for plants, an additional spot for @communityfridgefrome and last but not least (& coming soon!) a new community dark room 😎

It’s incredible what you can achieve with limited budget, a team that pulls together and a dream for something better!

Thanks 🙏 to all involved - this is just the beginning!!

🎪 COMING TO FROME: The ForEm 🎪

🗓️ Saturday 19 September
⏰ 10am to 6pm | Drop In
📍 The Silk Mill Frome Somerset @silkmillinfrome

🎟️ Part fête. Part exhibition. Part experiment.

The ForEm asks deceptively simple questions:
💬 What makes Frome, Frome? Who gets to decide what comes next?

Expect performances, films, artworks, games, community stories and a warm invitation to question ways of thinking, feeling, dreaming, sensing - and making sense - of the town we share.

The ForEm is the commissioned work of Frome-based artist Kate Keara Pelen @katekearapelen developed through her collaboration with the University of Glasgow’s Civic Imaginary Partnerships research project @uofglasgow @uofgsps It turns a year of research into a space for the town to play with, challenge and add to what we have found. The ForEm invites people to explore the stories they tell about the town: its independence, creativity and community spirit, and also its challenges, contradictions and changing identities.

🧵You can encounter the Community Loom designed by Claire Orpin @greenseathreads and Tamara Jones @by_tamarajones and films 🎬 made by Frome residents through the community film project led by Dr John Sealey of Fabian’s Film.

There will be free performances:
🧭 Tom Spencer will guide an unconventional gallery tour through the artefacts, stories, myths and characters of the town.
🎰 Martin Scott – bringing together Town Crier @fromesofficialtowncrier Cheese Lord @thecheeselorduk and long-time observer of Frome life – will invite audiences to join him In Pursuit of Frome by spinning his wheel of Frome Roulette, triggering different stories about the town’s civic tribes, traditions and archetypes.

🎪 Drop in. Disagree. Contribute. Play 🎪
💬 We look forward to seeing you 👀

Civic Imaginaries Partnership first connected to Frome through the community work of @edventurefrome Future Shed and @frometowncouncil
And Future Shed Lead Sue @suepalmer_23 has been supporting the research project and this event.
