#Backrooms, from the mind of visionary YouTube creator #KaneParsons, is a dread-inducing cinematic nightmare that is defining a new era in horror storytelling. Set in 1990 and based on Parsons’ viral web series, the film follows furniture salesman Clark (Chiwetel Ejiofor) as he makes a startling discovery in the basement of his showroom — a portal, bathed in yellow fluorescent lights and littered with familiar objects, leading to an eerie maze of endless office space. When Clark goes missing, his therapist Dr. Mary Kline (Renate Reinsve) finds herself lost in the backrooms, searching for answers and a way out. An A24 release. Director Kane Parsons will be presented with the NextGen Director Award. A special In Conversation event, featuring Parsons, production designer Danny Vermette, director of photography Jeremy Cox, and VFX supervisor Edward Douglas precedes the screening. @edwardjdouglas @a24 @backroomsmovie @kanepixels

Some impressions of the View Conference 2026. Thanks for having us @megutierrez.to & @view_conference 🙌🏽🎥 So many great talks and panels, such interesting people and conversations, such a grand city, and too little time to see it all! Guess we’ll have to come back… #viewconference #torino #vfx #miniatures

Arrived with Joel and Matthew in Torino 🇮🇹 for the epic @view_conference 2026, tired and punchy 🥴. What a spectacular week! The speakers, staff, volunteers, media folks, and techs at the conference were all EXCELLENT. Why’d they invite me?! #viewconference2026 Piazza San Carlo. Con Cane. 🦮 Walking around. I’m still wondering whatever happened to that elbow… Some curator must have had THE BEST TIME coming up with this bizarre way to display the Museo Della Cinema’s montage of Looney Tunes explosives 🧨 Museo Egizio. Italy probably ought to return all this stuff (especially the bodies) to Egypt, but it was interesting to get to see it nonetheless. Museo Egizio. Check out this little ancient Egyptian jug with the skinny arms. Maybe I’ll make one. Checking out the View Conference on Wednesday with my pals Tech checked and ready to GO! Turin from the top of the Mole Antonelliana. The Museo Della Cinema is a funky interactive experience. I left with a smile on my face and a general sense of “wtf was that?” Si. Heading to the Gala Turin understands architectural lighting. 12/10 Ahhh yayyy! I ran into my (wildly successful!) buddy Nic from many years ago when we were at Animation Mentor together! Also, would you look at this venue?! This is the National Museum of the Risorgimento, where the first Italian Parliament met; it is essentially the birthplace of modern Italy. What an honour to have dinner in this place, surrounded by enormous paintings (including overhead). Good thing no food fights broke out amongst all of us uncivilized VFX nerds… Wine country time (thanks for the nice pic, Tyree!) Barrelos of Barolo 🍷 Si, si, a thousand times si Osteria Gemma. I can’t possibly do this place justice in a caption. In short, Gemma (seen here bottom right) has perfected a particular “grandma” style lunch menu over several decades. She doesn’t change the menu, and she makes it all by hand. Michelin chefs like to come eat at her place out in the countryside. This was some of the best cuisine I’ve ever had. And yes, that’s an obscene quantity of local white truffles from Alba, before they were sliced paper-thin and added to everything. I am so grateful for th

A few things I took home from @view_conference : 1. Award winning shots are part crafty part chemistry, and part creative stubbornness 2. In leadership, resilience isn't about having endless capacity. It's about knowing how to protect what you are. 3. The best industry conversations happen at Jumping Jester. Thank you to the @vfx_society for giving me two panels to curate, The Alchemy of Award Winning Shots and The Capacity Paradox, the second featuring our Women Who Lead Initiative. Thanks to @megutierrez.to and the @view_conference team for hosting, and above all to my brilliant panelists! It's rare to share a stage with people you'd also happily share a pizza! 🩷

“Backrooms is the little movie that could. With a miniscule budget of around $10M (an amount of money that, on a Marvel movie, would be allocated for purchasing the baby powder to get actors into their super suits), first-time director Kane Parsons was able to bring the labyrinthine yellow walls of his YouTube series of the same name to the big screen with the effectiveness of an old pro, grossing nearly $400M worldwide for studio A24. But this feat of cinematic terror would never have been fully realized without the help of a dedicated VFX crew.” - Thank you Max Evry for the wonderful write-up!
