Sisilia’s Journey of Hope: From Fighting Lupus to Returning to School

A journey of faith, resilience, and hope.

Sisilia, a young girl from Sumba, has been fighting an autoimmune disease, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), which deeply affected her health and kept her away from school for almost a year.

Today, we are grateful to share a beautiful milestone: Sisilia is back at school!

This journey would not have been possible without the kindness and commitment of so many people.

A heartfelt thank you to @effortxfoundation for providing the platform that made it possible to raise support for Sisilia and her medical treatment. To every donor who contributed, prayed, and stood with Sisilia, thank you for being part of her journey. Your generosity has brought hope to Sisilia and her family.

A special thank you to @emilliano___ , who continues to stand by Sisilia and has remained committed to supporting her by providing her medication every month. Your continued dedication means so much in helping Sisilia maintain her treatment and continue her journey toward recovery.

Sisilia’s story reminds us that when people come together with compassion, we can make a real difference in a child’s life.

We continue to pray for Sisilia’s healing, strength, and a future filled with opportunities. May she continue to grow, learn, dream, and experience the beautiful life every child deserves.

Thank you for being part of Sisilia’s journey. Together, we can turn hope into reality.

Our school meals program is still ongoing at a school in Sumba; today, October 17, we visited the Wai Wei Christian Elementary School (SD Masehi Wai Wei), met with the children, and served school meals to them.

One meal can’t change the world, but it can change someone’s day.
Seeing the pure joy and endless energy of these children in Sumba reminds us of the power of giving.
Proudly supported by @butterproteinclub , we are bringing free, nutritious meals to fuel their big dreams and brighter futures.
Let’s keep spreading the goodness! 1$ = 1 Meal

Sekecil apapun kontribusinya, tetap berarti buat mereka 🤍

We ran 200 km across Sumba for one reason, to help provide school meals for children on the island. 🤍

After spending these days here, meeting the kids and seeing their smiles, this means so much more than just completing a relay.

Now I need your help. 🫶🏼

If everyone watching this donated even a few dollars, together we could make a HUGE difference.

$5, $10, $20 — every single donation counts. No amount is too small.

Please help us reach our goal for the kids. 🤍

DONATE through the link in my bio 🔗
And if you can’t donate, sharing this reel helps too 🫶🏽

And a huge thank you to @effortxfoundation for bringing us together, taking us across this beautiful island and giving us the opportunity to run for something much bigger than ourselves. Forever grateful for this experience and for my team Wai Wei @jenniferbachdim @mikaaffandy @prettymuchenglish 🤍

The first of many recaps and content pieces from our week long Sumba Crossing. We four runners started as strangers, brought together for God’s greater purpose. And we become the Wai Wei Squad; forging a bond through shared experiences! So proud to call you all family and friends! We have so much more to do together!

Thank you to the @effortxfoundation @effortrun team and to @yayasan.jejakkasih for putting this together and connecting us together and connecting us with the Sumba kids and locals!
Huge shoutout and big thanks to Bapak @aldydelavega and the entire Sumba Crossing Comittee and volunteers led by @umbuhunggurami93 and all our sponsors and donators!

By the Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, Team Wai Wei will be back to do much more!
