“You cannot expect your oppressors to educate you.”

But who controls what we’re taught, and whose version of history are we learning?

Ego Sr. takes the conversation back to slavery, religion, and the education system, sharing how the Bahamas’ independence shaped his perspective on the importance of Black communities educating their own children.

The discussion raises a bigger question about systems of power, who benefits from them, and how the information passed down through generations can influence the way people see themselves and the world around them.

And while people continue debating race, gender, and everything that divides us, there’s another question worth asking:
Are we spending more time fighting each other than challenging the systems that affect us all? 👀

Education is powerful. History is powerful. And understanding who gets to tell the story matters.

💬 Should we trust the institutions that educate us, or should communities take greater responsibility for teaching their own history?

Athena came on the show and challenged Ego Sr. on the Passport Bros conversation, and Joy jumped in with one line that shifted the whole exchange:

“She doesn’t think you’re sexy. She thinks your money is sexy.”

Ego Sr.’s response? At this point in his life, basically: fool me. 😭

Then the conversation somehow turned into relationships being compared to ROI, return on investment.

So what do y’all think?

Are Passport Bros simply looking for the kind of relationship they want, or does the financial imbalance make the dynamic predatory?

Some men say they want peace at home. But does peace have to come with submission?

We have a new guest on this episode, Athena @athenatheedom and she came ready to challenge Ego Sr. on what “peace” in a relationship really means.

Ego Sr. says if he’s providing, protecting and taking care of his family, respect should come with that. Athena pushes back and asks the bigger question: why should a peaceful relationship require a submissive woman in the first place?

And Joy had one line that shifted the whole conversation: “Not every man deserves peace.”

So what do y’all think?

Can a relationship have traditional roles without one person becoming smaller in the process? Or is submission being confused with peace?
