They say it takes a village, and that is an understatement. Reason & Revelry would not be what it is today without the support of our amazing partners and contributors who have helped us create magic with this series. We are so grateful to everyone who has taken the time, energy, and dedication to bringing our events to life — we couldn’t do it without each and every one of you.

Join us for a one-of-a-kind night out with Dr. Jason Shepherd — cocktails, great conversation, and the chance to meet new people.

Neuroscientist Dr. Jason Shepherd presents his lab’s latest cutting-edge research on how evolution repurposed an ancient virus that became critical for memory and protecting our brains against Alzheimer’s disease. The Arc protein still behaves a little like the virus it originated from. It wraps itself in a tiny bubble to carry vital information from one neuron to the next – but it can also carry toxic proteins like Tau, a protein that’s a central driver of Alzheimer’s disease pathology.

In a study on mice, the Shepherd Lab found that Arc protects sick cells in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. Exporting Tau out relieves the neuron it came from and helps it survive longer, but eventually the same delivery vehicle slowly damages its neighbors as they take up the toxic Tau. Join us as we dive deeper into this paradox and learn about possible avenues for future therapies that prevent Alzheimer’s disease.

June gives us a lot to raise a glass to. 🥃

Today we're celebrating National Bourbon Day and National Old Fashioned Day, but this month is about so much more.

We're proud to celebrate Pride Month, honor the fathers and father figures in our lives for Father's Day, recognize Juneteenth and its significance, and appreciate all of the moments—big and small—that bring people together around a table, a cocktail, and a shared story.

At Eight Settlers Lounge & Distillery, we're grateful for the community that supports us and for the little victories, conversations, celebrations, and connections that remind us why we do what we do.

Here's to good bourbon, great company, and a month worth celebrating. Cheers. 🥃✨
