OLD SOULS — ISSUE 002: HOLLY 🤍

Holly turns 14 this month.

And if ever there was a dog who has been completely, unapologetically adored every step of the way, it’s Holly.

She is the kind of dog who doesn’t just have toys ...
She has many toys, knows most of them by name, and even has seasonal favourites on rotation. If you go away for even one night, she’ll head straight for your bag to check what present you brought back for her… because obviously you wouldn’t come home empty-handed.

Her birthday is a full event in itself: a trip to her favourite dog park, a drive-thru McDonald’s to share some chicken nuggets (one of her very favourite words) and then a stop at the pet shop so she can choose a toy of her own. Not that she has to wait until then, of course… she’ll already have opened her presents that morning.

(Present also being one of her favourite words.)

Christmas morning? That belongs to Holly too.
The excitement of watching her open her gifts and dive straight into her new toys is all part of the tradition.

She loves playing football as well — although by all accounts, she absolutely cheats.

And honestly, that tells you everything you need to know.

Holly is spoiled rotten. Deeply loved. Thoroughly fussed over. Treasured in all the little ways that become the big things over a lifetime.

And after 14 years of love, routines, excitement, funny quirks and family traditions built around her, I think it’s safe to say she’s earned every second of it.

AKA: she’s spoilt… and they wouldn’t have it any other way.

That’s what Old Souls is about.

Not just the grey around the face, or the years gone by, but the life behind them. The stories. The rituals. The personality. The love.

Holly. 14 this month.
A face shaped by a lifetime of love and adoration. 🤍

What a day!! I had so much fun coaching some brilliant riders today!
Eiméar and Bella were first up and worked on lengthening Bella’s stride as well as the feel for how to ride in a contact (I didn’t get a lot of pics of the gorgeousness at the end 🙈).
Next was Franny and her Thomas, building on last week we worked on suppleness and bending, getting Thomas moving off the leg into more of an uphill frame (by the pics I think we achieved that).
Then I had Sophie and her Flex, we just went back to basics a little, working Flex forward and into the hand as well as bending correctly.
Lastly was Chloe with her Apollo, and holy shit I’m a proud coach. Chloe has been working hard on learning how to get Apollo into a frame (it’s not easy) and today she did it! Then we worked on the pole exercise, getting transitions more consistent!
Now to get cosy while the rain comes!

So proud of these girls!!! It was Chloe’s first EVER show and her first show with Apollo, they did the 40cm and 50cm. The 40cm was a learning curve and they absolutely rocked the 50cm, such a team, Chloe rode brilliantly and it was the best I’ve seen her ride, trusting Apollo to do his job.
Eimear and Bella can out of retirement (Eimear not really having jumped in almost a decade and Bella retired from competition in 2017/18). Eimear remembered Bella’s buttons and got two lovely rounds in the 50cm and 60cm (it was also hot and Bella hates the heat and always has).
They all did so so well, so here’s to more fun!
