Waiting to Be Seen: Film Screening & Artist Q&A

📅 Thursday, October 22 | 6–9:30 PM
📍 Mariemont Theatre
6906 Wooster Pike, Cincinnati, OH 45227

Join us tonight for a special screening of Rachel Rampleman’s Life Is Drag, an expansive exploration of drag culture, performance, identity, and self-expression.

Compiled from selected performance footage and interviews with hundreds of drag performers, Life Is Drag brings together a remarkable range of voices, personalities, and performances. The project has grown into the largest digital archive of drag in the United States, preserving the artistry, individuality, and cultural significance of a vibrant community.

Through intimate interviews and dynamic performance footage, Rampleman celebrates the creativity and diversity of drag while documenting the people who challenge conventions and expand the possibilities of self-expression.

This screening is part of Waiting to Be Seen, a group photography exhibition at Eisele Gallery presented as part of the 2026 FotoFocus Biennial, exploring the charged, chaotic, and deeply human experience of life in public view.

So recently I have been included among 5 other artists to do a show with @eiselegallery called Echos of Plein air: Cincinnati Reimagined. And the premise is that I blind picked a historic Cincinnati painting and return to the location the artist painted from and do my own rendition from that location. My artist was a Myle Abel painting of Mt Adams from Newport just across the River. As luck would have it Cincinnati put in a big yellow bridge in front of my subject since Myle painted the scene which makes this painting challenging, but fun. Here’s a small study I have spent two days on. I’m hoping to get started on the larger piece in the next week or so. #pleinairpainting #cincinnati
