I asked some of our Ironclad Crew one simple question:

“Why do you love CrossFit so much?” 💭

The answers were different, but the themes were pretty clear.

🛡️ The community
💪🏼 The confidence
😂 Having FUN
🔥 Doing hard things
🤝🏼 Being surrounded by people who actually want to see you succeed

Because @crossfit is about so much more than the workout.

It’s about finding out what you’re capable of. It’s doing hard things alongside good people. It’s laughing, struggling, learning, getting stronger and coming back to do it all over again.

And somehow, somewhere along the way, you start becoming a stronger version of yourself — inside AND outside the gym.

If that sounds like something you’ve been looking for, come check us out.

We’re always looking for growth-minded people who are ready to have some fun, get uncomfortable and do hard things with us.

You don’t have to be “fit enough” to start. You just have to be willing to start.

Most people walk through our doors because they want to get fitter.

They want to get stronger.
Lose weight.
Move better.
Feel better.

But somewhere along the way, it becomes about so much more than just the workout...

It becomes about the coach who knows your name.
The people who notice when you’re missing.
The high fives after a hard workout.
The laughs before class.
The person next to you who refuses to let you quit.

You may come for the fitness.
But you stay for the people ❤️

Because maybe it’s not just your favorite place after all…
It's your favorite people at your favorite place 🫶🏼

🚨 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗬 𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗡 𝗜𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗠𝗢𝗦𝗧 🚨

Today, Team Ironclad spent time sharpening a skill we hope we never have to use — CPR & AED training, led by Coach Ben ❤️‍🩹

Because when you coach and care for people every single day, being prepared is not optional.

It's not a matter of IF something happens. It's WHEN.
And if that moment ever comes, you can know one thing:
Your Ironclad Coaches are READY 💪🏼

Ready to recognize an emergency
Ready to respond
Ready to take action when seconds matter

We don't just take your workouts seriously. We take YOU seriously ❤️

We Coach. We Care. We Create Change.

🎬 If Netflix made a series about the Ironclad CrossFit Team...
...we'd watch every single episode 🍿😂

Featuring a cast of characters who somehow manage to...

☕ Run almost entirely on caffeine
📣 Celebrate every PR like someone just won the championship
💪🏼 Turn "just one more rep" into an art form
🤣 Roast each other relentlessly... then have each other's backs without hesitation
🎯 Care deeply about every member who walks through the door
🔥 Bring the energy every single day, whether it's 5:00 a.m. or the last class of the evening

No script...
No paid actors...(Clearly!)

Just a kick ass team that's passionate about coaching, serving others, and having a whole lot of fun while doing it 🙌🏼

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Who else would absolutely binge-watch Season 1?! 👇🏼

This weekend, a crew from Ironclad CrossFit traded barbells for a lot of sand and took on the Absolute Beach Race @absolute_mountain_racing in Virginia Beach 🏖️💪🏼

THIS is why we train.

CrossFit isn't just about being good at workouts IN the gym. It's about building a body and mind that allow you to say YES to things OUTSIDE of it.

✅ Sign up for the race.
✅ Chase the adventure.
✅ Try something new.
✅ Make memories with your friends.

The goal isn't just to be fit for the gym.
The goal is to be fit for LIFE.

We're incredibly proud of everyone who took on the challenge this weekend. Keep saying yes to the adventures waiting for you 🛡️❤️

Find Your Tribe 🫱🏼‍🫲🏻

Find the people who challenge you to be better.
The people who encourage you to show up when motivation is low.
The people who celebrate your victories like they're their own and remind you what you're capable of when you forget.

Not through competition.
Through collaboration 👏🏼

At Ironclad CrossFit, we're all moving in the same direction. We cheer for PRs, celebrate first pull-ups, high-five last-place finishes, and remind each other that hard things are easier when you're not doing them alone 🙌🏼

The strongest communities aren't built on trying to beat each other.
They're built on helping each other become better.
A rising tides lifts all ships ⛵

Find your tribe. Find your people. Find your strength. Find it here 💪🏻

𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 — one of the energetic and passionate coaches at Ironclad CrossFit 🛡️

Coach Ethan came into coaching because he knew he had something meaningful to give — a love of teaching, a passion for sharing knowledge, and an enthusiasm that naturally brings energy into every room he walks into. Three years into CrossFit and now coaching solo classes for over a year, Ethan has quickly built a reputation for bringing positivity, encouragement, and relentless support to every athlete he coaches.

Outside of the gym, Ethan races bikes competitively for a team out of Virginia, so he understands firsthand what it means to trust the process, stay disciplined, and commit to long-term growth. That same mindset carries directly into his coaching.

What Ethan loves most about coaching is witnessing the “aha!” moment — that instant when a movement finally clicks and an athlete realizes they’re capable of something they once struggled with. For Ethan, those breakthrough moments are what coaching is all about. His goal is simple: make sure every athlete who walks through the doors leaves knowing the hour they spent in class was the best hour of their day.

Ethan’s coaching style is enthusiastic, relentless, and caring. He believes consistency is king and that success comes from showing up, trusting the process, putting in the work, and having fun along the way. Whether he’s helping an athlete improve a skill, build confidence, or simply push through a tough workout, Ethan brings authentic energy and encouragement to every class he leads.

His favorite training days involve heavy lifting and high-skill gymnastics movements — the kinds of workouts that challenge both the body and the mind.

Outside the gym, Ethan enjoys training with his son Miles, spending time with his daughter Nadia, and competing in bike races throughout the region. As for his workout hype music? It depends on the day — dance, rap, K-pop, metal, country… whatever’s hitting at the moment 🛡️

🗣️ THE WHITEBOARD BRIEF 🗣️

The whiteboard brief isn’t “just explaining the workout.”
It’s one of the MOST important parts of coaching 🛡️

The whiteboard brief sets the tone, intent and understanding for the entire class.

A good whiteboard brief should answer:
➡️ What are we doing?
➡️ Why are we doing it?
➡️ How should it FEEL?
➡️ What’s the intended stimulus?
➡️ How do we scale appropriately to hit that stimulus?

This is where great coaching begins 💯

It’s not about reading reps off a board 🙅🏼‍♀️

It’s about creating clarity, confidence and buy-in before the workout even starts 💥

A great whiteboard brief helps athletes:
✅ Understand pacing and strategy
✅ Choose smart scaling options
✅ Move with purpose and intention
✅ Avoid turning every workout into a “send it” session
✅ Get the adaptation the workout was designed to create

Because intensity without understanding?
That’s not effective coaching.

At Ironclad CrossFit, we want our athletes to know the WHY behind what they’re doing.

We want you to understand the stimulus, move well, scale smart and train for longevity 💪🏼

The whiteboard brief is where our classes begin with great coaching 👏🏼

Yesterday, the Ironclad CrossFit crew took on the Manion WOD 🇺🇸

And like every Hero workout… it was more than just fitness. Hero WODs are about honoring those who gave everything - the ultimate sacrifice - so we can be free.

They’re meant to be hard. They’re meant to make you uncomfortable. They’re meant to remind us that what we’re feeling in a workout is temporary… while the sacrifice we’re honoring is not.

That’s why we show up ❤️

But here’s the part that matters just as much…

We don’t do these workouts to get destroyed.
We do them to stay in the fight.

Scaling isn’t a shortcut… it’s the standard. It allows you to keep moving, to embrace the grind, and to respect the intention of the workout without putting yourself in a hole you can’t climb out of.

Longer grind > Quick burnout
Effort > Ego
Purpose > Pace

Watching this crew dig in, support each other, and push through was something special. Proud is an understatement.

We remember 1st Lt Travis Manion 🎖️
We honor his legacy.
We move because we CAN.
