Today is Day 16 in the hospital, which is my longest hospital stay. I had a set back two nights ago where I couldn’t stop throwing up resulting in an emergency x-ray, stat CT scan and an urgent endoscopy yesterday. We are waiting on results from the endoscopy, but hopefully what was found can give us one piece to this complicated puzzle.

I am incredibly lucky to have a new GI doctor who has consulted and followed my case since the first admission and got assigned to me here again. The first thing he said to me was that he wanted me to know that the entire GI team believes me and is working to get to the bottom of this. He has fought for me, advocated for me, and is pushing everything forward to get me help and for that I am forever grateful.

It’s been a complete struggle with symptoms and pain. Pneumatosis Intestinalis is one of the most painful things I have ever gone through. It’s been hanging on for almost two months now persistently even with complete bowel rest, which is not typical. I’m still not out of the woods and may ending up needing surgery on my colon. They can’t do a colonoscopy right now because the danger and risk is so high to me due to how bad the pneumatosis is. We are trying everything that we can to avoid surgery.

Thanks to everyone who has been checking in on me, supporting me, sending me care packages, and being there for me. It means so much to me.

Today I was finally able to get out of the house for a little bit. With the assistance of my walking stick, we were able to walk slow and sit to take breaks in Newburyport by the ocean. I am still navigating really scary symptoms, but doing my best. ❤️@ekg0314
