POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

It’s hard to believe that the 2026 Everwood season has already come to a close. It is mighty quiet on the farm after a summer of music, friends, food, artists, and art making. And, the farm is still buzzing with all of your energy.

We have so many favorite memories from this year that we’re going to create a series of posts to celebrate them in November. We hope you’ll share what stood out for you too! For now, it feels good to see pictures of all the artists and performers who graced the barn with their particular magic. Hope it brings a smile to your faces. Cheers to an extraordinary season 14!

The sounds from our diligent lawn mower sent the next episode from “Conversations in the Barn” inside the retreat house where we spoke with multi-disciplinary artist Rhonda Willers @r_willers and writer and musician Sarah Michelle Magill @quiettakes

This shift prompted a conversation about the way Sarah and Rhonda related to space this week — both their physical work spaces and the space of time they found on retreat. We also talked about ways they will be implementing a little more space for creativity in their lives back home.

Our podcast is available on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube and our website.

The next “Conversations from the Barn” podcast is with writer Chris Clayton and visual artist Alex M. Peterson @Glitterhog

In this conversation, we talk about the gift of time and what it means to be productive, especially as an artist. As Alex and Chris conclude, “productivity” can mean spending 8 hours working on your creative practice, but it can also mean spending a day disconnecting from work, wandering in the forrest, or even taking the time to get a hair cut.

Last Sunday, we said a very teary goodbye to Ellie Eklof as they head to the east coast to begin their next grand adventure. Ellie has been our exuberant Retreat Administrator for the 2026 season.

Anyone who got to connect with Ellie this summer was surely effected by their bright energy and joy for life. Glitter was literally shared with everyone at our Artist Series performances. The Retreat artists got special care, attention, and unexpected stories all through the week. We think, in the end, the white chicken ended up calling Ellie 'best friend'. They had a very special bond, but we suspect anyone who met Ellie ended up feeling the same way.

Thank you Ellie for filling the farm with your light and special kind of hospitality. We know whatever you engage in next will be made better because you are a part of it. So happy to have you a part of the Everwood family!

The next “Conversations from the Barn” podcast is with visual artist @hadaenlatada and musician and songwriter @sticha.

Both Thomas and Osvaldo’s work at Everwood focused on the idea of home and returning to one’s inner child. Thomas and Osvaldo reflected on their early points of inspiration and the people, places, and sensations that make them feel at home.

The next “Conversations from the Barn” podcast is with multidisciplenary writer and theater maker Addie Ulrey @aj_ulrey

Addie spent her week at Everwood as a solo artist on retreat, which brought it’s own challenges and opportunities. Addie has recently relocated back to the upper Midwest, and so her time at Everwood was a chance to reflect on space, community, and the art that comes from both.

@juliecensullo led our final Artist Workshop of the 2026 season, helping us become better storytellers through the medium of podcasting. While these photos show us learning new recording and editing tools on our computers, the best part of the day for many was learning how to create meaningful content and practicing interviewing skills.

Julie is not only an encouraging teacher, she is a brilliant storyteller herself. She edits our podcast "Conversations From The Barn" and has her own compelling podcast called "Choosing". We hope you'll check it out.

Looking forward to gathering new curious learners in the barn next summer. Big thanks to all of our Workshop teachers and attendees this year.

We closed our 14th season with some really exciting news! From the stage, Bill announced that this year our audience members have allowed us to contribute over $10,000 to local school art teachers through our Aspiring Artist fund. (That's him with balloons that spell out 10K!) This is our largest amount of grants in a single year since we began. And it's all because of your generous pay-what-you-can tickets.

We are SO grateful to you! And we are so happy to support the inspiring art teachers in the six counties around us. May these funds help inspire the next generation of artists.

Happy Fall Equinox! Today marks the moment the Sun crosses our equator heading south. We'll experience nearly equal amounts of daylight and darkness. Here in the Driftless, Autumn officially begins.

We love this time of year on the farm, feeling the edge between warmth and cool. Flowers are exhausted, tomatoes have done their best. It feels like the animals sense a change is coming too. It's time to light the fire pit and share stories with friends and neighbors about the beautiful summer we had.

The next “Conversations from the Barn” podcast is with writer @denisesantomauro and theater artist @kmurrellmyers.

Denise and Karissa are both based in Chicago, and while they didn’t know each other before their week at Everwood, they are leaving as friends and potential collaborators. In this conversation, we talked about the importnace of getting away from the demands of daily life to focus on your art, and the way that slowing down and finding a moment of peace is essential to the life of the artist.

Want to know more about how to make your own podcast? Our podcast is produced by Julie Censullo @juliecensullo who will lead a workshop at Everwood on Sept 26. Follow the link in our bio for the details.

Pert Near Sandstone blew off the barn roof last night with a high energy, toe-tapping, freight train of music and fun. It was a spectacular way to close the 2026 Artist Series season. The weather, the lawn full of serious picnickers, the generosity of spirit all around... and most of all, feeling the elevated heartbeat of our community.

This evening will sustain us for a long time. We hope it will for all of you too. Thank you artists and audience members for demonstrating how art and nature remind us of our kinship. #everwoodfarmstead #artistseries #seeyouinthebarn #pertnearsandstone #community #nature #art
