I find myself drawn to water. Not just because it’s beautiful, but because it teaches one of the most important lessons in photography: layering. These images by @elanaloo are a beautiful example of using intentional layers to create depth, emotion, and atmosphere within a single frame. Rather than documenting a subject, they invite us to feel the image. The double exposure effect created through water, reflections, refracted light, and movement transforms a simple portrait into something more interpretive. More experiential. A few things to study here: • Layering adds depth without adding clutter • Reflections can become part of the story, not just a visual effect • Backlight creates separation while softening detail • Imperfection often feels more emotional than precision • Sometimes obscuring a subject reveals more than showing everything As photographers, we often chase sharpness and clarity.
