I can’t believe I’m getting ready for my 11th marathon. ELEVEN! 😭

This has become my favorite time of year. My birthday is in a few days, which kicks off all the festivities, and then comes my favorite day in NYC, marathon Sunday! 🗽

As excited as I am to run, I’m even more excited for my siblings and my mom. Getting to experience this weekend with them year after year is something I’ll never take for granted. Watching them accomplish things they once thought were impossible makes me so emotional.

I was only supposed to run ONE marathon back in 2018. Just one 😂 Somehow here we are, 11 marathons 🤞🏽, ultras, coaching, mentoring, friendships I never would’ve made, and now my own family mentoring runners too.

I sit and think about how much running has changed my life. Not just as a runner, but as a person. The places it has taken me, the people I’ve met, the opportunities I’ve been given, and most importantly, the memories I’ve made with my family.

I grew up in Brooklyn watching the marathon go by, never imagining that one day I’d be where I am. Now I get to do it alongside the people I love most 😢

Little Tere would be so proud. I know I am and I still have so much more I want to do 💝

Thank you, @theorangerunner for this beautiful drawing and such a special token. It’s a reminder of how far I’ve come and how much this journey means to me. 🧡

Run & Dine #1 🏃🏻‍♀️🥯

Run & Dine #1 🏃🏻‍♀️🥯

Today was 8K with my run club, @elbarriorunning , on a surprise route that ended at a fruit stand to reveal our new marathon season singlets with @nike 🫐🍓🍍

Inspired by fruit stickers, those little labels that carry their origin with them all the way to bodegas and markets across New York. Just like us.

And after the run, the dine: @utopiabagels and their Worth It bagel. A very good post-run reward.

Gun violence can happen in any community.

Her experience is a powerful reminder that gun violence is not confined to one neighborhood, one city or one group of people. Its impact reaches families and communities everywhere and none of us should look away simply because we believe it could never happen to us.

By listening, sharing these stories and taking action together, we can help create a future free from gun violence.
