My first ME MADE MAY! ❤️ Part 4: FAFO. Have you ever seen an item in a catalog and thought, “I can probably make that.” I started sewing 15 months ago, and I call these my FAFO projects. Fabric from @stonemountainfabric in a blind denim bundle. A self-drafted pattern. My first ever top-stitching attempt (thanks @electric.meow for some hot tips). They are perfection.

Sashiko-ori is a modern fabric rooted in steep tradition, developed by Tectoco and each piece of sashiko-ori fabric is woven by Mr Ohazama in Fukushima.

His family has been in textile production since the 40s and he is the only person left that knows how to operate the specialty loom. He has just stepped into his retirement and these stunning fabrics are no longer in production.

My fabric shop closes on 31 March so you only have a matter of days left to make these yours. Comment FABRIC below to shop now. Or go to the link in my bio.

Sashiko-ori fabrics differ from the traditional hand stitched designs of sashiko.

With Sashiko-ori, the sashiko-like pattern is woven into the fabric as it is made on a loom.

Resulting in a mid-weight, 100% cotton with a beautiful softness to them.

Swipe to see some garments made up in these fabrics. The these intricate designs are conversation starters and the best opportunity to whip out those satisfying words “Thanks I made it!”

Remember, my fabric shop will close on 31 March so comment FABRIC below to shop now. Or go to the link in my bio.

@sewover50 friends and others- I am considering doing some sashiko or embroidery over this repair… would red thread or contrasting white be better??
There were two small tears in the nylon where the insulation was peeping out. #fixing #mending #sewing #embroidery

10 years of @campworkroomsocial and the amazing friends who make the magic happen. Now, more than ever, it feels fantastic to return the Catskills and breathe in the mountain air.

Find yourself friends that - 30 years later - still make you laugh, participate without question in absolute shenanigans, and that love your kid (obvi, you love theirs back). Showed up to MN this week to pick grapes, build swings for chickens, cheer for elementary field day like psychopaths, and LAUGH. My life is so good. ❤️
