We are so excited to be selling books at the upcoming Context Writers Festival featuring this star studded line up. Our very own Annie is even dusting off her bookseller hat to attend a special literary speed dating night for emerging writers on Nov 21. This by invitation event is for 18-26 year olds who want to get a special audience with a literary editor, publisher, bookseller or journal editor. Fill out the EOI to be considered by Nov 15. See you at @cityofadelaidelibraries to celebrate in #SpringWrites!

Advance copies of our March titles (minus one very special book) have arrived in the office. We'll introduce you to them more soon – or you can take a poke around our website, where they have now appeared. Tinto approves.

LINK IN BIO- A LINE – A CIRCLE – A SPIRAL – A TUNNEL- It’s a bit of hide and seek, but I wrote a creative piece for BLUE ART JOURNAL under a pen name for this volume. The name itself if embedded with the energy of my dearly departed from both sides of my family Nhanda/Wudjeri and Dutch and Scottish. It is a piece about the passage of time and the toll it takes on so many of us and the first thing I have written since my father died in 2023 [NL] EEN LIJN – EEN CIRKEL – EEN SPIRAAL – EEN TUNNEL.

Somehow took a year off from acquisitions announcements. But back onto them for March 2027, with our three titles just announced in @booksandpublishing. First up, Timmah Ball's A Map & Other Parts. We are big fans of Timmah's work and the way she looks at urban spaces, and feel very lucky to be the home for this creative collection.

repost • Looking forward to being a part of the presentation of @thesoilremembers and discussion with @electric_zines & @adrian_diff_van_wyk @joseokapi at @threefivefivethree • big shout out to @yaseera.jpg for making this happen and facilitating this event 🤍 Details below and tickets via link in bio _ 3553 is proud to host the screening of What the Soil Remembers (2023), by José Cardoso, produced by Adrian van Wyk. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion between Adrian van Wyk, José Cardoso, Roberta Joy Rich, & Timmah Ball, to reflect on the resonances of the film from South Africa to so-called Australia and beyond. Event Details: Date: 2 October 2025 Time: 6:15pm Film Duration: 29 minutes Location: 35-53 Emma St, Collingwood In 1960s South Africa, a close-knit community from Die Vlakte was forcibly and violently uprooted to make way for Stellenbosch University as part of the Apartheid regime’s segregation measures. What the Soil Remembers recounts the traumatic effect displacement had on residents by bringing to the foreground a university that is still grappling with its racist legacy. To this day, the Die Vlakte community is fighting for justice and seeking reparations with little to no tangible solutions. The film has screened at 25+ festivals, including BlackStar, Oberhausen, Sheffield, and Encounters, and won Best International Short Documentary (Regina IFF, Canada), Best Short Documentary (Ningbo, China) & the Critics’ Choice Award (SiberiaDOC, Russia). In 2024, José & Adrian collaborated on the film Flores (Flowers), which won Best International Short Film at Sheffield DocFest and screened globally in Ecuador, Colombia, Argentina, Nepal, Canada, and France.

In each catalogue, there is a foldout poster with Timmah Ball’s poetry ‘The Children’s Book of Planning’. The nine poems were commissioned in response to the paintings. Make sure that you grab one as you visit the exhibition. Timmah is a writer, editor, and zine maker of Ballardong Noongar heritage. In 2022 she published the chapbook Do Planners Dream of Electric Trees?  through Glom Press/ Arts House and has featured in a range of anthologies such as This All Come Back Now, Shapeshifting UQP and Best of Australian Poems 2022 Australian Poetry. The red dots are a gentle nod to the location of the schools in relation to the site, designed by Will Ek Uvelius.
