It took me 10 years to find a warm-up routine in STA that works for me. It also took me 8 years to finally enjoy this discipline. There are a lot of firsts in this performance, but what stands out is that this is the first time I didn’t struggle to reach 4:00 in a comp, and this felt easy. 🥹 Big thanks to @element__08 - I used the app for both the warm-up and the actual hold.

Haven’t been dry training equalization much this year. While my mouthfill management has improved with depth, my ratio is stuck.
I thought I wasn’t charging big enough, so I tested it today: an FRC dive, stopped at 2–3m, loaded a full mouthfill, and let it ride.
Result: 37m—a 3.4 ratio. Last year I was consistently hitting 4.0.

What’s going wrong?

-Glottis micro leaks ?
-Poor mouthfill management as volume shrinks?
-Not enough charge ?

Time to get back on the dry equalisation and fix it!

The legs are fine, EQ is not good. I use short fins and a rash guard to slow the dive down and get used to longer dive times while exerting the same energy as on a "real" dive. The time and effort are no problem.

But I'm back to having EQ problems... usually an indication of not being balanced. Let's see how it is after a short vacation.

90m. A disqualification for some small mistakes upon surfacing — and my first Red Card. 🟥
Not the result I wanted.

But this dive carried an important shift: for years, equalisation was the limit in my deep dives.
Yesterday, for the first time, it wasn’t - and that changes a lot.

I’ve spent years thinking about getting down.
Now it’s time to focus on how to come back up.
And somehow, that feels like really arriving in the deep diving game. 🌊
