POV: this is what playing with fire looks like from inside the flow. 🔥

It’s been a while since I’ve spun fans recreationally, and even longer since fire performance was a regular part of my life. Getting back into it recently has felt really good — and I’m grateful that this is something I still get to create, explore, and share.

For this one, I strapped a GoPro to my head so you could actually see the fire from my perspective while I’m spinning. 🔥👀

I haven’t seen a ton of POV fire-flow content out there, so I’m curious…

I’m heading to Spoopy Man this weekend with a lot of ideas for fire, flow, tutorials, collaborations, and some more experimental ways of filming movement.

Sunrise in the fire circle @kindle_nw ☀️

There’s something special about seeing the beauty of the sunrise as it plays with fire and movement of the human body. As light gradually illuminates the sky, cool and warm colors intermingle. Shadows of the environment progressively lift, reducing the sharp contrast that fire emanates against darkness.

There’s a certain collective energy that comes alive as a community dances through this transformation of the sky. To me it feels like a ritual, a spiritual moment. I look around me and feel a sense of belonging and community.

I want to thank the organizers of Kindle, and everyone who came together to make this moment possible. There’s a lot more that I captured. I drafted this post while traveling in the airport using Lightroom mobile on my phone. I have more photos I will be sharing soon from sunrise, but the rest of the time I was taking video.

I tried my best to tag everyone, but some people didn’t allow tagging, or I didn’t get their information. Please help me credit these amazing artists!

#spreadtheflowjam2026 🤩 This is our jam :: the flowtoys community jam 🌟 It happens every Wednesday from 6-9pm at our warehouse where we make our toys. When you first enter the flowspace, there is a sign-in google form, where we include a media waiver, so I can post these awesome videos 🤓 The jam is free, though there’s a tip jar and we def welcome any tips 🙏
.
Once you step into what we call the “lobby”, there are cubbies where you can stash your bag, outer layers, water bottle etc. The lobby has typically brighter lighting and hella high ceilings, so you often find the jugglers hanging out here :) There are chairs for peops to sit, chat, rest and people watch. There’s a popcorn machine with fixings - our kid used to make popcorn every week, but she’s off to school now, so help yourself ✨
.
Our wonderful host @amazing_zihni can often be found by the flowtoys cart, ready to help answer any questions, help you with purchases, warranty, give you tips on poi, dart, and many other props 🌟
.
You can wander upstairs where there’s a chill zone, or into our iconic studio with dozens of flowtoys for you to play with, the largest mirrors ever, and a DJ throwing down some sweet beats from our floating DJ booth 🙌
.
There are many other features in the space - I won’t go into details here, coz it’ll be nice for you to discover new surprises when you visit :) If you’re ever in the SF Bay Area on a Wednesday eveing, feel free to drop in! 🌈

Last night’s jam had such great vibes 🤩 Kind humans, smiling faces, people practicing their hobbies, teaching and learning from each other, playing and being silly with each other … this event is wholesome AF ✨
.
I know not it’s not representative of all flow arts events, but many of the jamsI’ve seen celebrate joy and learning, are open to all walks of life and all ages (last night’s jam had some kids and older people, though not visible in this reel), and bring people together in movement, creating community where people grow to support each other in myriad ways.
.
I want to shine a light on other jams and inspire more people to bring community together in this spirit. If you host or participate in a flow jam, keep your eyes peeled. We will be hosting a spread the flowjam contest soon! 🌟

1. Fosters our local community ✨
2. See friends, acquaintances and happy faces regularly.
3. See people making friends and connections, and sometimes finding partners 💖
4. Get to play with so many different toys - amazing for all us peops who can’t focus on one thing.
5. Biggest mirrors everrr.
6. Friendly and inspiring environment to learn and practice new skills, or simply let your stresses go.
7. Move our bodies. Feed our minds and souls.
8. Midweek respite from the work week.
9. Love it that parents bring their kids - parents play with glowy toys, while kids do their homework up in the sky lounge :) Family friendly!
10. Chance for local DJs to play and practice.
