Before this crazy summer season started I attended an incredible few days of education with @elevateconference.uk , meeting other photographers, networking and attending some really inspiring talks. I was lucky enough to attend an exclusive shoot day with @benjaminwheeler , a real inspiration to me in this industry. He was kind, open and extremely humble. A week on and I’m still buzzing from Elevate Analogue! ✨ Two days spent chatting all things film was so much fun, and such a refreshing change of pace. Swapping ideas with other photographers and seeing how everyone approaches their craft has left me with a notebook full of plans for where I want to take my business and my creativity next. I also came away with new industry friends, and it was so good to catch up with familiar faces too. And a big thank you to @summergrace.photo for leading our shoot in Notting Hill. Elevate Analogue ‘26 Spent a couple of days with the @elevateconference.uk crowd this week, talking about film and shooting a fair bit of it. Came home tired and with more ideas than I know what to do with, which feels like the right way round. These are from the two workshop shoots. ELEVATE, PART 2. Daniel Knight Harris doing what Daniel does. Walking the streets of Notting Hill, talking photography, finding little corners that most people would probably walk straight past, watching the light change and making photographs for no other reason than it felt good to make them. No pressure. No brief. Just cameras, conversation and seeing what happens. This is such a huge part of what I wanted Elevate to be. Not just sitting in a room listening, but actually getting outside, shooting, experimenting and spending time around people who genuinely love photography. And once again, @southsun were absolute legends. Developing and scanning everything in less than 24 hours meant we could see what had been made almost immediately. There’s something pretty magical about shooting film one day and having it back in your hands the next. We love you guys. And a massive thank you to @canonuk for being with us for their second Elevate event. Having them there printing the work as it came through added another layer to the whole thing. Watching a photograph go from something you’ve just seen through a camera to a physical print you can actually hold never gets old. Also, I’m now slightly obsessed with Platinum A3 photographic paper. Still processing what we managed to pull off with this one. So grateful to Daniel, to everyone who gave their time, to the brands who believed in what we were trying to do, and to every photographer who turned up and threw themselves into it. ELEVATE Analogue Shoot, PART 1. This was the dream. Watching @grainyboiweddings_ , chatting with friends, walking the streets of Notting Hill, finding beautiful spots, chasing beautiful light and playing with cameras simply because we can. No pressure. No brief. Just making photographs. When Mick and I first started talking about what @elevateconference.uk could be, this was exactly the sort of thing I had in my head. Get creative people together, give them the space to talk, share, experiment and make something. And then seeing it actually happen is something else. People travelled from all over the World to be there. The energy was ridiculous. The generosity in the room, the conversations, the work being made, all of it. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built, but more than anything, just really grateful to everyone who came and made it what it was. A massive thank you to @southsun for joining us and somehow developing and scanning everything in less than 24 hours. Seeing the photographs come back that quickly felt like magic. You guys are absolute stars. We love you. Also incredibly grateful to @canonuk for being with us for a second Elevate event, this time bringing print into the mix. There’s something pretty amazing about watching an image go from camera to an actual physical print you can hold in your hands. I’ve come away with a newfound love for Platinum A3 photographic paper too. It’s beautiful. I think I’m falling even more in love with film. This week has been a bit of a film photography week. I photographed this beautiful styled shoot with Summer Grace Photography, then yesterday went along to the Elevate Conference in Portobello. @southsun turned around some of our scans from the shoot within 24 hours, and I absolutely love what came back. But I think what I loved most was actually the process of taking them. Everyone was so considered with every photograph. There was no over-clicking or taking ten versions of the same thing. You slow down, watch, wait, and take the photograph when it feels right. Connor and Jessica said afterwards that they’d fallen in love with film not just because of the results, but because of “how calming and considered the shoot process is.” And I think that’s exactly how I felt too. It’s made me want to bring much more 35mm film into my weddings, with the aim of eventually photographing every wedding as a true mix of film and digital.
