AfroTech 2024 ✨ Can’t believe I didn’t do a recap post for @afro.tech last year! (Voiceover by me 🎙️) That trip was everything I needed, especially right after the election, and it sparked the idea for the events portion of @elevatingmovement ! As someone who geeks out on professional development and learning, and as one of the pioneers in VR fitness who was isolated as the only Black person in the space, I’d wanted to go to AfroTech for ages. Finally being there was everything I imagined and more. I’m so grateful for the experience, to all the speakers I heard, the people I met, and to @blavity for creating this space for us. It enabled me to dream bigger for myself and my business. As @emmagrede says: you can’t be what you don’t see, and this experience gave me the chance to truly see what I can be and create. Elevating Movement • est. 2025 ✨ OUR MISSION: To raise the standard of fitness and wellness and build a culture where everyone has the space to connect, move, grow, and shine. We do this through instructor training & brand consulting for all and events for instructors of color. It feels so bloody great to pour my 15+ years of experience into something I care so deeply about. From mentoring and training instructors, to opening studios and launching new modalities in new markets and countries, to producing and hosting events and all the other things I’ve done in my fitness career. I’m so excited to build this. We had our first event for fitness & wellness instructors of color in LA 9/28. It was a massive success and honestly all the conversations that were had really affirmed why Elevating Movement is needed. This is just the beginning. Big things are coming for Elevating Movement. 🚀 Incredibly grateful for all the support and everyone that instantly understood the vision and got involved. Thank you thank you thank you!!! Coming soon: online instructor training course (currently being filmed) Next event in LA: November I have been sitting on this idea for 5 years. But honestly no regrets because this is absolutely the right timing and I am so happy!
