The ‘Dance of the Machine’ exhibition - a glimpse of ׳Digital Folds׳

Eliane levy, a graduate of the Department of Industrial Design, developed a 3D printing method to create the “Smocking” technique in textiles. Smocking is an ancient sewing technique that requires a lot of skill and experience. The project aims to shorten the process and make it accessible to unskilled people, by 3D printing on the fabric as part of the aesthetics of the product itself. The preservation of traditional manual sewing alongside the use of advanced technologies allow the creator to leave a personal fingerprint on the product in an easy and accessible way.

The project is presented at the exhibition “Dance of the Machine” by the Department of Industrial Design in collaboration with Azrieli Sarona. For more details and opening hours >> Visit the Bezalel website. Link in bio.
