Best day ever. Yesterday felt like one of those days that reminds you why you choose to build something in a small town.

Started the day volunteering with @hlihendersonky East End Mural Project, grabbed literally all the sun gold tomatoes at the @hendersonkyfarmersmarket , hiked with @robkressfrx and @kaycorpusmd who inadvertently challenged me to be curious about how a hike could be comedic, and grabbed a “cheeky decaf” at @antler_specialty_goods.ky

Then the sauna filled up.

Friends from @eight12.runclub. @eliasmikai, who allegedly drove all the way up just to hang out before we head to Finland. @alcoholicprincessdiaries and her hi-lar-ious crew, where the conversation veered from unspeakable things to recovery (Jon and I will both be nine years sober this year). Mo from @moshouse812 , and the guys from @thespkeazy . @premierpediatricsandwellness and family, new friends who drove in from Louisville after hearing about us through @stillhousesocial ...

Today we’ll get to spend time with folks from @hometownrootsky , Jade from @cloverclub.evv , some folks from @ervin.pt, and a handful of familiar faces we’ve come to know and look forward to seeing over the last few months.

None of this was orchestrated. It just happened.

People supporting people. Local businesses supporting other local businesses. People you might not expect to meet, sitting shoulder to shoulder.

In one week we’re heading to Finland for to learn as much as we can about sauna culture, but weekends like this are a reminder that we’ve already found something pretty special right here.

Thank you for making MELT feel like part of this community.

😭❤️🫠 A series of photos documenting a summer weekend around MELT. Images include volunteers painting during the East End Mural Project, bright Sungold tomatoes from the farmers market, a wooded hike with friends, coffee from Antler Coffee, and groups of people gathered around the MELT sauna and cold plunges. Guests of different ages relax in robes, laugh together between sauna rounds, cool off after plunges, and chat outside the truck. Several local business owners, runners, friends in recovery, and families are pictured spending time together. The overall feeling is warm, welcoming, and community-oriented, with strangers and friends sharing the same space and slowing down together before MELT’s founders leave for a research trip to Finland.

We exercised and enjoyed our freedom today. A common message spoke during each class was “suffer today and honor those that are fighting overseas for our freedoms we celebrate on a daily basis”.

Our 1Step Family showed up big today. For our fallen soldiers. For themselves. For friends and family.

Many feared this workout, yet they still showed up and conquered Murph. No matter how they scaled or partitioned the workout, the mission was accomplished. That is the meaning of these workouts.

Embrace your fears. Attack them head on. Do it with people who push you to be your best. Why? Because that’s what our soldiers do for us every day. That’s the American standard.

Thank you to all that have served, actively serving, or those who have fallen to protect our freedom we were able to celebrate today.

Summer is coming, and that means the pool, the sun, and it’s time to show off that new tattoo. But you gotta come in and get it done first! I’ve got some spots open for April. The tattoo business seems to be picking back up, so get the spots while they are available.
