I lost myself this last year. 🫣
.
.
Or at least, I thought I did.
.
Somehow in the last 440 days, I…
• stopped feeling strong and confident in the gym
• felt weak physically and emotionally
• became irrationally afraid
• was uncertain of just about everything
• avoided food
• I lost 30lbs
• was perpetually a ball of stress I couldn’t manage
.
I didn’t recognize myself anymore.
.
But what I only just realized about a month ago, was that I didn’t LOSE myself.
.
I simply evolved into a version of myself that I no longer recognized.
.
Because like a stranger, we were unfamiliar.
Unacquainted.
.
Right now, I’m learning..
🫶 how to be more in touch with my femininity
🫶 how to balance myself as a leader and as a partner
🫶 how to take steps back and still take steps forward
🫶 how to eat when I’m not hungry
🫶 how to take responsibility when I fail and when I succeed
🫶 what I want to do with my life without dependency or attachment
.
.
I’m becoming someone new.
And I have to learn to become her friend, her ally, her partner.
.

.
Evolution is a long, hard road.
But it will always be worth it.
.
Make friends with yourself along the way and don’t forget who you’ve always wanted to be.
.
.
Xoxo 💋

STOP.
MAKING.
EXCUSES.
.
.
There is no such thing as ‘not being able to grow muscles’ or ‘not being able to gain weight’.
.
The reality of it is, your variables are all over the place and you’re making excuses so that you don’t have to do the extra work to fix what isn’t working.
.
You’re LITERALLY avoiding the hard stuff. Like…
.
.
⚠️recruiting a coach to see where the holes are in your process
.
⚠️tracking consistently to make sure you’re hitting both a surplus AND your nutrient goals (macros AND micros) instead of just ‘pretending’ that what you’re eating is enough
.
⚠️ following a structured program (that is appropriate for YOUR needs according to your movement patterns and corresponding biofeedback) for more than the 8-10 weeks it takes until you get bored
.
⚠️staying in a surplus for 10 months OR MORE without going into a deficit or neglecting calories
.
⚠️actually finding failure, not pretending you were ‘almost there’ so it’s ‘good enough’ because you’re ‘tired’. If you’re tired, sleep better and eat more food. If you don’t know where your weights should be, get a coach so that your variables match up.
.
Intentional weight gain isn’t easy.
So chocking it up to ‘im just a hard gainer’ is a cop out.
.
You’re just not trying hard enough and you need to know what you don’t know already.
.

…. it’s your fault, not your body’s 💁🏼‍♀️
.
.
Avoiding that truth is THE. NUMBER. ONE. reason why you’re still stuck in the same spot you were last year.
.
.
If you’re ready to take responsibility and actually grow;
👉 stop letting boredom decide your workout program; get a coach, communicate extensively, and follow a workout program that addresses your needs, in full. Changing your exercises when you get bored is a great way to work really hard just to end up avoiding adaptation.
.
👉eat more— sometimes we are full because of our meal timing, our meal structure, or an unaddressed issue related to hormones or digestion. You can’t just rely on your cues; you need to KNOW your TDEE, your calorie intake, your macro ratios, and what numbers you need to be hitting based on all related variables. If you don’t know, I do macro consults, so get in my DMs.
.
👉 don’t avoid the exercises that you don’t like or that you feel like you’re ‘bad at’— you’re just letting your weaknesses thrive and your strengths plateau. Getting better at these exercises or being willing to do things you don’t like— things outside of your ‘norm’— it’s like filling in the blanks and maximizing your full potential. It puts your muscles in different positions and loads the muscles from new angles. It’s useful AF and shouldn’t be overlooked as a strategy to grow.

Let’s dissect this misconception together—
.
1) You should feel every glute exercise in your glutes.
.
❌WRONG ❌
.
& this doesn’t mean that you are doing it wrong OR that the exercise is wrong for you; unless you’re feeling it, or fatiguing, somewhere else (like the lower back, the quads, the hams).

👉if you feel a hip thrust in your lower back, rotate your pelvis to a more neutral position.
👉if you feel a hip thrust in your quads, move your heels in a bit closer (you want a 90 degree angle) or in the hams— move your heels away from you a bit
👉if you feel RDL’s more in your hams, get a little more knee bend

If everything is spot on and you’re still not feeling it in your glutes, it DOES NOT mean that you should avoid this exercise (whether it is a squat variation, a hinging exercise, kickbacks, abduction, thrusts, etc).

This is not uncommon or abnormal.
Not feeling your glutes could mean that:
☀️your glute muscles are small and/or weak
☀️you sit often
☀️you lack mind-muscle connection/awareness
☀️the weight is extremely heavy
☀️your ROM is large or limited
☀️other muscles are weaker and you feel their fatigue first

Instead of being hyper focused or avoiding exercises because you don’t feel your glutes;

👉Keep thrusting, keep squatting, keep hinging (with the right form).
And measure your glutes as they grow 😈

Want bigger glutes? Do Bulgarians, they said.
.
And thrusts.
And RDLs.
And lunges.
And abduction.
.
❌But here’s the thing— you can EASILY do all of these exercises without actually using your glutes.
.
Sometimes, not feeling the glutes is due to positioning (which can be corrected by following the cues in the video).
.
But even more often, especially when demonstrations of these exercises are so readily available and easily replicated, not feeling the glutes is an altogether lack of muscle recruitment— I.e not actually using the glutes.
.
This lack of muscle recruitment is a bi-product of common patterns of imbalance, such as:
⚠️Tight back extensors
⚠️Lack of mobility in the hip flexors
⚠️Deep abdominal weakness
⚠️Gluteal weakness
.
All of which are often overlooked or ignored.
.
As a part of my 1:1 program, The Growth Strategy, we will collaborate to put together an action plan that includes evaluation and correction of the imbalances that prevent you from using and growing your glutes.
.
You can get in for only $250 for the first 4 weeks, for a limited time, as a part of my SUMMER SALE— no term commitment, no obligation to continue.

The food you eat around your workout is important—
.
But also, positioning your food around your workout can help you increase your calories more easily, as your body is able to process these calories more quickly and avoid excessive ‘fullness’.
.
If you want to learn more about eating to grow, drop the word ‘EAT’ in my DM’s and I’ll send you a free download of my ‘Eating for Growth’ guide.

there is power in the words— “I can”.
.
Even in the face of the fear that you can’t.
.
Something that I’ve never shared with anyone is that I wake up every day and tell myself that ‘I can’ over and over and over again so that I won’t collapse under the weight of the insecurities that try to make me believe that I can’t.
.
It feels funny to say that out loud, honestly.
.
But I know you can relate– you feel that weight.
.
You see, we all have insecurities.
That is a big part of being human.
.
✨ It’s only when we pretend that those insecurities don’t exist though that we give away the power that influences how hard we push to take what is ours. ✨
.
I say ‘I can’ everyday to RECOGNIZE my fear.
I say ‘I can’ every.single.day. to recognize my insecurities.
👉And in recognizing them, I steal their power, so they can never ever steal away mine.
.
.
I want that for you.
And I know that you want that for you too.

my advice to you is simple;
.
Be present in the moments that you partake in, because there, you will find and experience happiness.
.
A happiness that sits inside of you and fills you up when you can’t create it on your own.
.
The happiness that you find in..
👉the memes on IG
👉the videos on TikTok
👉the shows you binge on Netflix
.
.
This happiness is temporary.
It dissipates quickly.
.
It’s like a sugar high.
A simple carb vs a complex one before a heavy workout.
.
And since it doesn’t last, you need more, and more, and more.
.
And eventually, you fully lack presence in trade for the instant gratification that comes from consuming these bursts of happiness.
.
And it’s your life.
Your experience.
And your sense of self, that suffers.
.
.
Take my advice— be present today, and every day a little more.
.
👉do you spend more time consuming than being present?
