MEET THE CAST Shaia Scott @shaia.scott is a Richmond-based actress who will be playing Shadow of a Flame's Wife, a kind but serious woman trying to make sense of a senseless situation. In Shaia's words: "Heyy yall!! I’m Shaia Scott, a Richmond, VA-native Actor, Writer, Dancer, Choreographer, Singer, Producer, Cheer Business Owner and Coach! Outside of all those accomplishments, my biggest is being a dog mom of 6. My joyous spirit & hard work has landed me a Co-Star role on an Apple TV show called Swagger, a Principal role in a Lottery Commercial, Lead roles in multiple short films on Amazon Prime, Tubi and so much more! I love being on set and connecting in that world; it brings me so much joy to be able to just be me with like-minded individuals!" In Sahib's words: "My acting career has been fantastic. I got into acting because my grandparents were big on watching movies, and I loved the art of acting. I started with theater arts in high school and, of course, life kicked in, but I've always had something in me that pulled me back to acting. In September of 2025, I joined John Casablanca School of Modeling and Acting, graduated, and recently signed the Model and Talent Management Agency. John Casablanca gave me all the ins and outs of acting in this industry, and they prepared me for the world. I will always be grateful for them." OA JET graduate My-Yor Corley is preparing to direct Shadow of a Flame, a psychological horror/drama about an amnesiac couple trapped in a romantic cabin where dark forces reset them whenever they try to leave. To achieve this, himself and 7 OA JET graduates are teaming up and bringing all of their talent and experience to serve in key roles including: director of photography, production designer, costume designer, gaffer, sound mixer, props master, and locations manager! Through OA JET, they formed the professional network and working relationships that brought them together for this production. Each graduate is bringing experience gained through annual training films, OA JET workshops, and other professional projects to their role in the film. Their collaboration reflects exactly what OA JET was created to foster: emerging professionals building careers together and creating new opportunities for one another. Super busy week at OA. We are just 3 days away from principal photography. Yesterday was our final production meeting and tech scout, and our newest OA JET cohort had a set protocol training and Jesse Smith train a sound department training for crew in his department. Today everyone was working hard in their individual departments. Costumes created closets for our principal cast, and the art department dressed the sets and pulled props. Tomorrow our technical departments will begin gear checkout. We are still looking for some background extras ages 12–14, so if you know anyone who fits the bill, send headshot and clothing sizes to Oajet.film@oakwoodarts.org. Everything is coming together, but we still haven’t reached our fundraising goal.
