It all started at a resort in Mexico.

A simple conversation at the bar turned into something I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life. Josh and Gloria came into my life as complete strangers, but they left me with a perspective that changed the way I see the world.

One sentence, in particular, found a permanent home on my arm in Josh’s own handwriting:

“You are where you’re supposed to be.”

At first, I thought those words were about trusting the moment. But over time, I’ve realized they’re also about trusting the people God places in your path.

This weekend, Josh and Gloria traveled all the way from Rhode Island to Milwaukee just to spend time with us. Somewhere between Mexico and Wisconsin, strangers became lifelong friends… family.

Life has a funny way of putting the right people in front of you when you least expect it. Sometimes the most meaningful relationships aren’t the ones you’ve known the longest. They’re the ones that remind you who you are, challenge you to grow, and make you feel seen.

So if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this:

You never know where your closest friends will come from. But when you find them, you’ll realize you were exactly where you were supposed to be all along.

Travel has introduced us to so many wonderful people, but we always do the same thing: we exchange Instagram handles, promise we'll visit each other someday... and then proceed to just like each other's vacation photos for the next five years. 😂

But every once in a while, you meet people who completely break that pattern. That's what happened when we met Alex, Nick, and Elise in Puerto Vallarta last February. Within hours, it felt like we'd known each other forever even though they're 27 years younger than us!

So when they invited us to visit them in Wisconsin, we didn't hesitate. We spent a few amazing days relaxing in a gorgeous backyard, boating on the lake, exploring downtown, eating way too well, and completely falling in love with a city I never expected to be so beautiful.

The part that still blows my mind, though, is the special friendship Josh and Alex formed. Alex was so impacted by something Josh told him on the day we met that he had it tattooed in Josh's own handwriting: "You are where you're supposed to be" surrounded by hydrangea leaves because he knows they're my favorite flower. I honestly can't think of a greater compliment than carrying someone's words with you for life.

Safe to say, we've officially adopted Midwest kids. ❤️

Alex, a million thanks to you and your family for opening your home and making us feel part of it.

Still finding the words for how special this chapter has been. Every time I step into the role of teacher, I feel how much this practice asks me to truly be myself, to listen, trust, and be completely present. I’m so grateful for this community and all the love & support that was shown today💓It truly was something I’ll never forget!! So thank you everyone for creating these special moments that keep reminding me why I’m here 💞 🤸‍♀️🪷

If I had to write a short caption for this post it would be “You are where you are supposed to be”, but life isn’t about short captions. This life has so much depth, so many adventures and people to be explored. I cannot thank God enough for this experience with my closest friends and new family. On top of this experience, to be able to leave my business for a week for it to run itself is an accomplishment I didn’t think I’d ever reach. EVER. But here we are… life is full of sunshine. Clouds are so temporary. Remember the purpose of life… it’s to live. Experience everything you can. We forget that sometimes. I’m very guilty of this, but this experience showed me something so much greater and will be a part of me forever. Life is so much greater than what’s around you. Puerto Vallarta, the most magical place on earth… Espero verte pronto

We travel a lot, but we’re not always adopted by a group of 23-year-olds from Wisconsin as their vacation parents! 😅😍

And let me tell you… these kids really felt like family. Five days of amazing conversations, late nights, singing, dancing, a few tequila shots, many meals together, and a downtown adventure we’ll never forget.

Nick happens to be a talented amateur photographer and actually brought his camera—so of course he offered to take professional photos of us. How lucky am I? 📸

People like Alex, Nick, and Elise remind us how hopeful, curious, and fun the world still is. And kids… the invitation to RI is always open!

Puerto Vallarta, you’re something special 🇲🇽✨
