April is sexual assault awareness month and this month is very important to me, because a few days before my senior year of high school I was sexually assaulted by one of my classmates at a party. My whole senior year I struggled with my mental health with events going on in my personal life and on top of that having to see this person 5 days of the week in the hallways, parties, and sport events after what had happened to me and fake a smile. I felt so alone, angry, defeated, and disgusted with myself after this happened to me. With people also twisting the story as well when they were not there, this did not happen to them, and were not in my position. This was between me and one other person. Being in therapy has helped me tremendously and want to say that this did not defeat me and that it made me the person I am today. If anyone is affected by this month just know that I stand with you, and I am here for you. 💛
