Villa Blanca, Bingin

What a dream home for surfers! I was lucky enough to get the day aligned well with the swell, which is one of the highlights of this abode. Not mentioning the sauna/icebath room and the gym overlooking the world class waves.

Being a surfer myself too, I had goosebumps rocking to this place, making it hard for me to work without distractions! 😅

REAR FOOT ELEVATED SPLIT SQUAT / BULGARIAN SPLIT SQUAT

An exercise I truly love to really target one leg without having to worry so much about stability as in a single leg squat (i.e. pistol squat). About 80% of the work is done by the front leg while 20% of the rear leg provides assistance.

👉Setup: How far away to set the front foot is always a challenge for most. A simple tip is to sit on the bench and extend the working leg. Use this as the distance between the front foot placement to the bench.

👉Torso Angle: A more upright torso will target more of the quads while a forward lean will target the hamstring/glute. Similar to the high bar vs low bar back squat comparison.

👉Same squat movement pattern applies with an optimal spine position, bracing of the core, and depth.

👉 If you are new to this or doing high reps, would recommend placing a pad below the back knee to use as an external cue that you reached optimal depth.

After doing this exercise, I always feel my glutes on FIRE! 🔥
